The Gillis Family’s Favorite Camping Gear

By Campendium

Jared Gillis Family
Jared, Kris, Eli and Matt have lived full-time in their RV for two and a half years. Shortly after hitting the road, Jared started producing videos about RVing on YouTube which caught our attention here at Campendium. We asked Jared to join the Campendium team in 2017, and since then he’s been the host, producer and editor of the Campendium YouTube channel. (See him in action in the right sidebar!)

With all that RV video experience, you can be certain the Gillis family has fully optimized their RV life, from easy arrivals to keeping their systems in check, all while still having time to enjoy the outdoors and cook up a tasty meal. Check out their top ten favorite camping items below:

LevelMatePRO

Bluetooth Vehicle Leveling System

When we get to a new campsite, we like to be as efficient as possible when we setup so we have more time to enjoy the area. That is why we have the Level Mate Pro on our rig. It helps us get our rig level every time without any trouble. We just flip the switch on, pull up the app and we know exactly what we need to do to get it level. It also helps us find the more level spots before we even start the leveling setup.

Best Drive On Chocks

Anderson Leveler Chocks

The Anderson Levelers are another way we setup quickly. When we use them with the Level Mate Pro it makes having our rig level side by side quick and easy with no install. We simply pull up on the wedges until we are level and chock the wheels.

Steadyfast Stabilizer System

SteadyFast Stabilizer System

The SteadyFast Stabilizers makes our rig feel more stable and less shaky once we are all setup. It takes less than 30 seconds to deploy and once it is set, the majority of the shake and wobble is gone.

Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddle Board

Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddle Board

The inflatable stand up paddle board is one of those items I love having on the RV. Before we had the SUP I would look out at the water just wishing I could get out there. Now we can get out and enjoy the water without taking up a huge amount of room. It takes me less than 5 min to inflate and I can use it as a SUP or kneel on it and use it like a kayak with the kayak paddles I have on the RV.

battery inverter

Rechargeable Inverter Battery Generator

Our Portable power station is something that I never thought I would use as much as I do. It is a 155 WH 100Watt power station that can charge our USB devices, 12V items, and 120Volt AC household items. We mostly use it to keep my camera equipment charged up while we are out enjoying the area. I’ve used it to power video production lights, electric scooters, fans and drones. It’s safe to say it has found a home in our RV.

Renator M11-0660R Water Pressure Regulator Valve

Water Pressure Regulator Valve

All RVers know you need a pressure regulator for those times you go to connect to that water source that has 90 PSI or even higher at times. This one is adjustable so you can set the water pressure you want within reason.

Victron BMV-712 Battery Monitor

Victron Battery Monitor

The Victron Battery Monitor is one of those things you take the time to install and never regret it. It provides so much information at a quick glance on the app and keeps me informed on how much power we have left in our battery bank or how fast we are charging. It is such a simple device with so much vital information.

Outdoor Cooking Tabletop Gas Grill

Blackstone Table Top Griddle

The Blackstone griddle is our favorite way to cook outdoors. Whether it’s time for a fun cookout or you want to have fish or bacon for dinner but don’t want the whole rig to smell like dinner the next day, it is a great option to easily get food ready for meal time with a simple cleanup.

RVLock Compact Keyless Entry

The RV Locks we installed were a huge upgrade for our RV. We knew we were getting a more convenient way to lock and unlock our RV, but they function much smoother than our original locks. No more need to slam the doors in the RV which makes my wife much happier.

Stainless Steel Electric Kettle

Stainless Steel Electric Kettle

When we are connected to shore power and want to heat up water there is no faster way than using our electric tea kettle. Not only does it get the job done without using any propane, it doesn’t heat up the RV in the warmer months when you want the inside of the RV cool.
