The Best Lincoln City RV Parks

By Campendium

The Oregon Coast’s quaint towns along Highway 101, plentiful public beaches, and abundant natural areas make it one of my favorite places to camp. When exploring the coast, Lincoln City is one of the towns where we always stop. Despite many trips there, we still have so much to discover.

Read on to see what there is to do after you pull into one of the many Lincoln City RV parks.

Treasures at the Beach

No trip to Lincoln City is complete without at least one visit to the beach. There are seven miles of soft, sandy beaches to explore and I’ve loved strolling along all of them. Try the SW 51st Street access point for ample parking and a handicapped-accessible entrance.
Birdwatching

I’m not an official birder, but I truly enjoy watching the birds that hang out along the beach. The Western Sandpipers race across the sand while the Pelagic Cormorant can be seen nesting on the cliffs and ledges near the shore. The cormorants have one of the largest colonies on the Pacific Coast just south of Lincoln City at Cape Foulweather.

Watch out for the Western Gulls, though. They’ll steal any picnic food you have left unattended.

Tide Pools

Looking into tide pools is by far my favorite beach activity. I go when the tide is out or just before low tide to identify beautiful starfish, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and sea anemones.

The most popular tide pool spots are at Roads End State Park, the beach access at NW 15th Street, and in front of The Inn at Spanish Head. For your own safety, always check the tide tables and weather reports before heading out.

Glass Fishing Floats

I’ve been a Lincoln City visitor many times and found plenty of agates and seashells while beachcombing, but I’ve never come across one of the thousands of Finders Keepers fishing floats.

These handmade, multicolored glass floats are created by local artisans and hidden daily along the seven miles of Lincoln City’s beach by the Float Fairies. If you find one, you get to keep it! If you find more than one, you’re pretty lucky. Please note, however, the rules say only one per person per year so put it back and let someone else have the fun of finding it.

More Activities To Enjoy

  • If you don’t happen to find one of the Finders Keepers’ floats along the beaches, you can buy one of the beautiful floats for sale in any of the glass shops. Or, let the artisans teach you how to make one of your own.
  • Speaking of shopping, Lincoln City also has an outlet mall, several antique stores, and boutiques for you to browse through.
  • Pack a picnic and head to Regatta Grounds where you can fish, swim, and canoe on Devils Lake.
  • Visit one or all of the ice cream and candy shops downtown. Be sure to buy some saltwater taffy!
  • Tour the Cultural Center in the old Delake School or the North Lincoln County Historical Museum.
  • Finally, I recommend going for a hike at one of the nearby trails. Drift Creek Falls Trail and Alder Island Nature Trail are two easy, but beautiful hikes.

Lincoln City is the perfect place to stop for a night or more. Make your home at one of the best Oregon Coast RV parks in this quaint town, and get exploring!
