Arizona

Traveling to Arizona? You’re in luck! Arizona has two of the top-rated campgrounds for you and your furry companion.

Let’s start with the bustling southwestern town of Tucson, where giant saguaro cacti are king, followed closely by the city’s thriving art and food scene. For those looking for that full amenity experience, make Tucson – Lazydays KOA your destination. The Campendium community loves this gated park for its easy access to the highway, impeccably maintained grounds, and big-rig-friendly sites. Your dog will love this park for its multiple fenced dog parks! Some sites even have private, fenced dog runs.

When you’re “standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona,” why not stay the night? Meteor Crater RV Park is a well-kept and conveniently located park just minutes from I-40 and Route 66. It’s also on the grounds of Meteor Crater & Barringer Space Museum, which is home to the best-preserved meteor impact site in the world. Celestial attractions aside, this RV park has two off-leash, fenced dog runs for your pup.

New Mexico

There’s no lack of dog-friendly adventures in Santa Fe. Not only is the town bookended by the Santa Fe National Forest and Pecos Wilderness, but the metro area itself is welcoming to four-legged friends. Make Santa Fe Skies RV Park your home base when exploring this popular destination. The RV park is convenient to downtown Santa Fe, and reviewers rave about the clean facilities and strong Wi-Fi signal. There’s an on-site fenced dog run for fetch and play and some nearby neighborhoods perfect for a suburban stroll.

Florida

Florida’s Gulf Coast city of St. Petersburg is beloved for its pleasant weather year-round and gorgeous waterfront parks. One of those is the Fort De Soto, complete with the five-star reviewed Fort De Soto Park Campground. There’s a lot at the Fort to explore, but for dogs, it’s all about the off-leash dog beach. Dogs have free run of this sandy stretch to swim, socialize, and smell everything in sight. If your pup isn’t ready for all that beach freedom, there are adjacent fenced dog areas for small and large dogs.

Georgia

Nestled along the Appalachian Trail in Georgia is the small town of Hiawassee, known for its outdoor recreation and beautiful landscapes. Settle in at Mountain View Campground, a big-rig-friendly RV park that is lushly vegetated and has mountain views. Reviewers love the owners, PJ and Louie, and their cute pup Peanut. The park has a fenced run for dogs of all sizes. For another type of “dog” fun—PJ and Louie regularly host hot dog and s’mores nights at the communal campfire!

When you’ve had your fill of Georgia’s mountains, head to Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah for a coastal adventure. The park’s campground is filled with live oaks and palmetto trees and has six miles of trails that welcome on-leash dogs. Downtown Savannah, an easy distance from Skidaway Island, is very welcoming to your furry best friend, too, with dog-friendly restaurants, activities, and shops.

South Carolina

Enjoy miles of trails and saltwater creeks at James Island County Park & Campground near downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The Campendium community adores this park for its large, private campsites and plentiful amenities. Your dog will love this park for its dog park and dog beach, complete with a doggy wash-up station to help keep your camper as clean as can be. James Island is a popular destination, so be sure to book in advance!

Oregon

Eugene, Oregon’s Armitage Park Campground is close enough to the city to soak in all the hustle and bustle while being far enough away to relax and unwind. Located along the banks of the McKenzie River, Armitage Park is open year-round and has old-growth trees, group picnic sites, a boat ramp, riverside trails, and a spacious fenced dog park. If you need to pick up supplies for yourself or your pup, there are grocery stores and pet shops within two miles of the park.
