alabama-hills-recreation-area
Alabama Hills Recreation Area – Lone Pine, CA

After three days in Death Valley, we headed here on recommendations from fellow campers…and it didn’t disappoint! Great place to boondock while still being close to the main highway and town. – lostrivets

white-spar-campground
White Spar Campground – Prescott, AZ

White Spar is a perfect base for exploring the Prescott area. It’s just a mile or so south of town, but in the midst of quiet, dense woods. – Rayn

city-of-rocks-national-reserve
City of Rocks National Reserve – Almo, ID

High desert environment with fun rock formations everywhere! This is a great “middle of no where” outdoor haven. – GinaDog

alfred-a-loeb-state-park
Alfred A. Loeb State Park – Brookings, OR

This park is fantastic; I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. The setting is lush, quintessential pacific northwest. Hiking trails are abundant and the Chetco River runs through the park, giving it a super chill vibe. – Dave Burns

flying-monkey-mesa
Flying Monkey Mesa – La Verkin, UT

What a quiet, peaceful campsite, and only 20 minutes from Zion National Park. There are 2 campsites at Flying Monkey. There are nice views of the valley to either side and of Hurricane Mesa to the north. – Jeneric Ramblings

croton-springs
Croton SpringsBig Bend National Park, TX

Every site in Big Bend is nice, but if you can get a site to yourself, it’s so much better! We walked out in the middle of the night and watched the stars without anyone else around and loved it! – Joe Hendricks

hackle-road-blm
Hackle Road BLM – Solomon, AZ

In many ways, this is the IDEAL boondocking site, particularly for those that don’t have a great deal of camping experience outside of commercial campgrounds. – Joe

valley-of-fires-recreation-area
Valley of Fires Recreation Area – Carrizozo, NM

All sites offer great views of the surrounding lava fields and mountains in the distance. We will definitely put this campground in our “regular rotation!” – Bob Martel

winding-stair
Winding Stair – Hodgen, OK

What a find for us. We like to be off the grid in scenic locations with a strong 4G signal (Verizon) and this forest campground checked those boxes along with being cheap. – Robin

tillicum-beach-campground
Tillicum Beach Campground – Yachats, OR

We lucked out and got a walk-in site here over spring break in 2016. Someone must have just pulled out because site 18 is one of the best in the campground. – goofus deluxe

east-cape
East Cape – San Jose del Cabo, BCS, Mexico

After miles and miles of driving the dirt road along the East Cape of Baja, we hit the jackpot with this spot. Its a small unnamed beach that you will have all to yourself. – Chris

chilhowee-rec-area
Chilhowee Recreation Area – Benton, TN

Beautiful secluded area with a 7 acre lake, a waterfall and miles of bike/hiking trails right at your back door. Large, well laid out sites with some vegetation between sites for privacy. – Boonshiners

fort-pickens-campground
Fort Pickens Campground – Pensacola Beach, FL

It was so nice to walk across the street every day to enjoy the beautiful white sandy beach and gorgeous sunsets. – ketah777

point-lookout-state-park
Point Lookout State Park – Scotland, MD

We couldn’t have been more pleased with Site 100. Our bedroom window looked right out over the water where a beautiful sunrise greeted us each morning. – Robin

bastendorff-beach-park
Bastendorff Beach Park – Coos Bay, OR

We stayed in C56 which is a pull-through with a partial view of the sunset. We really liked it and will return. – John & BJ

defeated-creek-campground
Defeated Creek Campground – Defeated, TN

Defeated Creek Campground is our favorite place to stay in Nashville, although it’s a bit of a drive to get downtown (1 hour+). – 188sqft

watson-mill-bridge-state-park
Watson Mill Bridge State Park – Comer, GA

So there’s one private park a bit closer to Athens and there’s a Walmart that’s supposed to allow parking, but this state park is definitely a gem. – Adventures of Dave and Ann

two-medicine-campground
Two Medicine Campground – Glacier National Park, MT

This is one of our most favorite places we have camped to date. Our site was right on the edge of a creek and was quiet. – Wander Wagon

likely-place-golf-rv-resort
Likely Place Golf & RV Resort – Likely, CA

Likely Place is a little further afield than I would prefer to travel in one day, but, boy, was it worth the trip. – Teresa

virgin-dam
Virgin Dam – Virgin, UT

Definitely one of, if not THE, best desert boondocking. It is just a bonus that you are within a short drive of Zion National Park as well. -Van-Tramp
