Three hundred thirty five campgrounds received 5 star reviews in October. Check out the highlights below.
Forest Road 535 – Flagstaff, AZ
The location, nearly smack dab halfway between Flagstaff and Sedona, is absolutely perfect. We’re here midweek on the first week of October 2017 and while we have a few neighbors, we can’t see or hear them. – Marc Guido
Anvil Camping Area – Silverton, CO
Views which can’t be beat, especially if you have one of the few river spots. We managed to snag the best one which is closest to the river. – Fables and Trails
Jordanelle State Park – Heber City, UT
This is a beautiful state park! We loved our site #61 which was a pull-through and the outdoor living area was very private. The surrounding mountains were covered in gorgeous fall colors. – ketah777
Vedauwoo Campground – Buford, WY
Very happy with stumbling upon this place. We saw moose and plenty of deer frolicking. All around we have loved being here in the snow – if only we had more fresh water we’d stay! – Kminser
Dogwood Campground – Rimforest, CA
This was a beautiful campground. Overall we were very happy and will be returning here for camping in the future. – PhilnBec
Twin Lakes View – Twin Lakes, CO
The views here probably the most stunning we’ve ever had boondocking. In addition the breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains, all the aspens had changed colors, too. – Geekstreamers
Hurricane River Campground – Seney, MI
The beach is steps away, and the North Country hiking trail goes through the campground. Twelvemile Campground is the gem of Pictured Rocks, to be sure, but the Lower loop at Hurricane River is a close second. – TigerNomad
Shepard Hot Springs – Mammoth Lakes, CA
Right by two hot springs with a 360 degree view of the sierras! All and all a beautiful place to stay at. Waking up and heading to a hot spring as the sun rises is pretty amazing. – Road it up
Huntington State Park – Huntington, UT
There is lots of space, grass for the dogs, we are right on the waterfront, a nice picnic table with a fire pit beside it, a flat paved pad — we can’t really think of anything to criticize. – Sgmensing
Bill Williams Loop Road – Williams, AZ
Bill Williams Loop Road is one of many places in the Kaibab and Prescott National Forests, that you can camp and ride. We spent two weeks, drove over 600 miles of trails, and still have so much more to see. – Tracie & Doug
Teton Canyon Road – Alta, WY
We stayed there in July when the wildflowers were in bloom and it was simply gorgeous. With views of the Tetons and tons of trails for hiking and biking, we fell in love. – WatsonsWander
Fritch Fortress Campground – Fritch, TX
Here’s the thing — this place is GORGEOUS. The views are great, the spots are spacious, the grounds are clean. – Becca and Winslow
Sand Flats Recreation Area – Moab, UT
The Sand Flats Recreation Area is just a few miles from downtown Moab, but it feels like you are in the wilderness. – RidingRoadsAndTrails
Calhoun Falls State Park – Calhoun Falls, SC
This was our second time here. We stayed in campground 2. They have a lot of really nice sites most with water views. – Cindy
Grindstone Campground – Troutdale, VA
We have stayed at Grindstone many times in the past; it is one of our yearly “goto” campgrounds. Very wooded campsites with plenty of privacy. – wanderlust
Sacred White Shell Mountain – Mosca, CO
Lovely little secluded spot with a view of the mountains. We loved it so much we recommended the spot to our friends who were also spending time in CO! – TheDarlingWanderers
Tunnel Mountain Village II, Banff National Park – Banff, AB, Canada
Village 2 is a fairly open camping area with gorgeous mountain views on all sides. Cell signal in the campground was excellent. – Margot Bai
Cosmic Campground – Glenwood, NM
The campground is an official International Dark Sky Sanctuary. This was an amazing find and we hope everyone will help to keep this campground clean, quiet, and enjoy the Dark Sky! – Everlong Journey
The Main Drag 525 – Sedona, AZ
The Main Drag was ideal for us: enough privacy and not a pain in the butt to access. Overall, a great site to explore Sedona, Cottonwood & Jerome. – Drivin’ & Vibin’
Rifle Gap State Park – Rifle, CO
The best thing about this campground is the view. Wow, just wow! The water was quite low in the reservoir, but that didn’t spoil our views. – Sgmensing
Many Glacier Campground, Glacier National Park – Browning, MT
Not only is the hiking great, the views amazing, the wildlife abundant and the huckleberry ice cream at the Swiftcurrent Inn to die for, the campground itself is awesome. – thecrazygoodlife.com
Blair Valley – Julian, CA
We found the area to be very quiet during the week, and then it would fill up over the weekend. Cars or dirt bikes would occasionally pass by our site heading further into the valley, but overall, a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere in this area. – Life Among Pines
