5 Star Campground Reviews – January 2018

By Campendium

Two hundred sixty campgrounds received 5 star reviews in January. Check out the highlights below.

Belle Campground: Joshua Tree National Park – Twentynine Palms, CA

Site 5 is the creme de la creme. It’s tucked into a rock formation such that when you’re camped you can neither see nor hear your neighbors. What a luxury! – TigerNomad

Cibola National Wildlife Refuge – Cibola, AZ

So far it’s a cool spot- great ATT internet and Verizon, you can hear the Sandhill Cranes in the lake across the way, and I saw a burro trail, so they are definitely here somewhere. – Rv Chickadee

Cape Lookout National Seashore – Harkers Island, NC

Each island is roughly twenty miles in length and, other than a few restricted areas, you’re free to find a spot anywhere between the dunes and the high tide line that suits your fancy. – huachuca

Dexter Point Campground – Twin Lakes, CO

My all time favorite place to tent camp. – Kendrag

City of Rocks State Park – Faywood, NM

This was probably the most unique and enjoyable place we’ve stayed. The kids (and us adults) loved exploring and climbing the rocks. – TheWilkinsons

Little Pee Dee State Park – Dillon, SC

We would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, loved the layout, the convenience, and the ranger and camp hosts were great to talk to! – TechnoGypsies

Dead River Landing Recreation Area – Ponce De Leon, FL

Just left this free camping spot after 4 days. We had a great time and made some new friends! – SS Odyssey

Silver Falls State Park – Sublimity, OR

There is a lot to do here and we took advantage of the Bike and hiking trails visiting many, but not all of the Falls in the park. – RetiredVagabond

Seminole State Park – Donalsonville, GA

This park is a wonderfully tranquil place to stay. There are about 60 spacious, gravel campsites. The majority are pull through, and many are right on the lake. – fish tales inn

San Elijo State Beach – Cardiff By The Sea, CA

Sitting in my Airstream with the rear window open and working all day has been fantastic and inspirational. – Fables and Trails

Huntsville State Park – New Waverly, TX

Very clean well maintained park.. Staff is friendly and helpful.. Lots of well maintained trails for hikers. – tkbrem

Dead River Landing Recreation Area – Ponce De Leon, FL

This place is awesome. The setting is beautiful. What’s not to love. If you like to boondock, this place should definitely be on your list! – creagin

Cosby Campground – Cosby, TN

Cosby is an absolute gem of a campground in the national park. It’s never busy, it’s quiet, spacious sites and great hiking trails all around. – Lizardqing

Forest Road 462 – Tijeras, NM

Absolutely breathtaking mountain views surround this beautiful forest. We spent 12 nights before moving on to explore and capture images elsewhere. – LesleyCPhoto

Indian Creek Recreation Area – Woodworth, LA

This is a beautiful park. As far as water views go, 100 & 95 would be my top picks. We saw lots of deer on the road in and there is a nature trail around the park. – Nikki

Black Canyon South – Essex, CA

A really beautiful, quiet place to stay. Weather changes the dirt road, so walk it beyond the first area before driving. – BakoGal

High Falls State Park – Jackson, GA

The hikes along the river were awesome, every part of the park was beautiful. We will be back! – VeganRV

DuPuis Campground – Indiantown, FL

We have had trouble finding good sites through Florida. This campground is the crowning jewel! – Betty

Pyramid Lake Fish Ladder Beach – Sutcliffe, NV

Pyramid Lake has about 10 dry camping beaches along the western shoreline. The closer you got to the water you lose cell service, so we parked a little closer to the road and had a beautiful view of the lake and cell service. – The Emigrants

Bolivar Flats Free Beach – Bolivar Peninsula, TX

This is an amazing boondocking spot. I would highly recommend skipping the touristy RV parks in Galveston. – The Home on our Backs
