By Campendium

Six hundred thirty one campgrounds received 5 star reviews in August! Check out some of the highlights below.

Cold Springs Campground | Deschutes National Forest – Sisters, OR

Aside from the peacefulness, the best thing about this campground was the location. Smack in the middle of a unique volcanic wonderland filled with cooled lava, towering volcanic mountains, and scenic forests, there is no lack of amazing things to explore within a short drive. – WatsonsWander

Starve Hollow State Recreation Area – Vallonia, IN

We never thought that we would find a campground with stunning views to camp right on a lake in Indiana. Our site was the best over many great sites at Starve Hollow. – mich

Sheridan Lake South Shore Campground | Black Hills National Forest – Rapid City, SD

Level spacious sites. Dry camping. Very clean and quiet! Close to Custer and Sturgis. Was get for bike week. – Sue and Kevin

Seven Points Campground | Army Corps Of Engineers – Mount Juliet, TN

We were thrilled with site #33 as it’s right on the water and fairly secluded. We used this as a base to visit Nashville and it’s a short 30 min drive to much of the city. – BoardGamesOnBoard

Great Northern Flats River Access Site | Flathead National Forest – Columbia Falls, MT

Since there were no reviews of this site we didn’t know what to expect, but it was a great find with 3 RV sites, and some tent sites too, all right by the river. – Anita

Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park – Parksville, BC, Canada

This Provincial Park is stunning! I took my canoe to the northern edge of the peninsula and found a great place to put in. Swimming was great, there, too. Just a lovely, lovely park! – RudiOnTheRoad

Jackson Rancheria RV Park – Jackson, CA

In our 5 months on the road we have learned to take the word “resort” with a grain of salt, but this is what an RV resort should be. Definitely staying here again. – KathrynB

Pokegama Dam Campground | Army Corps Of Engineers – Grand Rapids, MN

This is a small COE campground that we absolutely fell in love with! The sites are spacious, all of them! We were right on the river. – Jenkampf

Canal Campground | Army Corps Of Engineers – Grand Rivers, KY

Nice level site with a great view of Lake barkley. Shower houses are cleaned very well. Located to so many things and just across Canal connecting Land Between the Lakes which offers an abundance of activities (Nature Center, planetarium, Homeplace Settlement, Elk and Bison Range, and far many more). – Tlgrace

White River West Sno-Park | Mt Hood National Forest – Mount Hood, OR

Awesome views of Mt Hood and a crazy looking river to play in. Easy to get to, has cell service- everything you want in a free place. – Vicaribus

Goose Lake Camping Area | Payette National Forest – New Meadows, ID

Right on the water! If you don’t mind people around, this is a perfect camping spot. The town of McCall is about 30 minutes away and is a sweet little town with good grocery stores and the biggest servings you can imagine at Ice Cream Alley. – LivingWithTheEssentials

Gore Bay Harbour Centre – Gore Bay, ON, Canada

On the bay, across the street from a brewery. Easy walk to dining, groceries, and parks. You can jump in the water right behind the RVs. – LC

Wolfeboro Campground – Wolfeboro, NH

The campground is like we remember them from our youth. Quiet, shaded and relaxing with trees separating the sites. We would not hesitate to stay here again. – Mac & Kat

Forest Road 29 | Olympic National Forest – Sappho, WA

3 bars Verizon LTE and very fast internet (not common for this area). Beautiful free camping that I was almost didn’t want to post. Please, take care of it. – Unknown_Normal

Sunglow Recreation Site | Fishlake National Forest – Bicknell, UT

This is a great little USFS campground near Capitol Reef. Stayed midweek in August and it was very quiet, only one other site occupied. Views up into the box canyon are fantastic. – String

Sheep Bridge Road | BLM – La Verkin, UT

Sheep Bridge Road was easy to find off of highway 9 and have us some SPECTACULAR views during sunrise and sunset. I’ll never understand why anyone would spend money to stay near Zion when this place is available! – stephdee

Jackson Creek Fish Camp – Mattawa, WA

Such a peaceful place. Great views and great facilities. Nice layout to this small campground. – rschmidt59

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park – Santa Rosa Beach, FL

This park is an Oasis. The beach is beautiful and they have a tramway that runs hourly that takes you to the beach access since it’s about 1/2 mile from the campsites. We will be back for sure. – Josborne90

Walter Pratt Memorial Park – Brasher Falls, NY

Wonderful free camping! The view of the stretch of water is beautiful, visible from several camping sites. – Céline

Fernie RV Resort – Fernie, BC, Canada

Let me be the first to leave a glowing review for this RV Park. Super clean. Level spots. Friendly staff. Awesome showers. Super quiet. Spectacular views. Everything awesome. – Howieloves
