Beautiful, mostly empty campground on the bank of a river. There is a very clean pit toilet and a nice camp host.
Con to our specific night:
1. Drunk camper decided to take his rental camping van off-roading and drove around barricades and down steep hills not meant for driving - overall just reckless
2. A few people came to use the river only and did not camp, however their other young teenage friends decided to join them at 8pm and have a loud party. Completely inconsiderate, chose the campsite next to us even though the place was mostly empty, and blared their music. The camp host was unable to be reached and the local dispatch for the Rangers could not reach him either. By the time the Rangers were available, the teenagers had left.

I reserved campsite #6 during Memorial Weekend.
Pros: 1. River is awesome. The river would rise during the day and lower during the night. It was fun wading out onto a sand bar and sun bath and splash in the water.
2. Camp sites are clean of litter.
3. We saw deer and an owl.
4. Camp hosts were very nice.
5. Very closet to Marble Falls. During our stay it was so windy we were not able to grill. One night we decided to drive into Marble Falls for Whataburger.
Cons:
1. Camp sites are too close together.
2. One pit toilet at the campsite and two porta potties in the glamping area.
3. 8 people per campsite. This was not enforced during our stay. There was a family reunion at campsite 7 & 8 with a total of 6 tents with about 20+ people.
4. Pit toilet was clean but needed to be drained.
5. With so many people, I opted to walk to the clamping area about 200 yards away to use their porta pottie.
6. No easy access to the river. There are two or three dirt paths down a very steep embankment. Falling and sliding down the path is the fastest route to the river..... I did this at least twice!

We were planning to stay here through the week, but when we showed up, there was a sign saying that they would begin charging $12/night for campers and $5/day for day visitors starting Monday, January 29, 2018. We were very fortunate to get two nights there, but we would have liked to stay longer. I'm just not willing to pay $12 for no hookups.
It looks like they may be upgrading it, so in the future, they may have more to offer for that fee.
It's right on the river. Parts are dry right now, but that provided a unique opportunity to walk down it. There was a lot of wildlife (deer, skunks, armadillo, squirrels). It's well-kept, is very quiet, and has washrooms and garbage.
The hill coming in was quite steep, so I'm not sure about access for larger rigs.

Lot's of wildlife. Along the river, it is very scenic and quiet. Each night a group of wild hogs graze through. They are harmless. Very pretty location.

Wow! My girl and I pulled into this spot on a Saturday afternoon in my mustang. Thought there would be a lot of boondocking but there was only 1 RV. We took the last camping spot upon a hill near the boat loading ramp! Had a friendly neighbor who had already been staying there a couple of weeks.
Very grassy (we arrive on the first day of July) and river was right by our campsite. Water was very nice! Very breezy throughout the day and evening, but it died off to ZERO overnight making it a tad bit uncomfortable at times since we had a tent. Not too many bugs. Just bring a citronella candle/bug spray.
We were invited by complete strangers to go tubing, so we did. It was an amazing and fun experience. It's a hidden gem but it must be recognized.

The roads going into the Rec Area are small and windy - go slow.
The Park itself is very nice! There's only a few firepits but the whole park is wide-open for boondocking!
There were 2 other very nice homeless parties there, one group of young adults in a toyhauler, and a few groups over by the boat launch/day-use area.
We will definitely be bringing the RV there for some camping soon!
For free - it can't be beat!

While we were here there were 4 other cars staying here. They were all very nice homeless people. There is a boat ramp in the park and I'm told fishing is great here. The park is full of pecan trees free for the picking. Early morning deer were all over the park.

After leaving the Pacific Northwest, which is a fairytale wonderland, it was nice to find a free camping area in a pretty part of Texas. Being a native Texan, I grew up with goat heads and mesquite everywhere, this was quite a bit different (tho there ARE still goat heads.)
It was quiet and peaceful, not many parole running around. The view of the river (or lake Travis depending on what map you ask) is spectacular.
We fit fine in our 38ft bumper pull. There is a large area to turn around in by the group campsites, which were not being used.
The road in is paved for a bit, but narrow, then becomes dirt, then gravel. Still easily accessible.
There was no camp host, and people had left trash all around, even tho there is a dumpster. (There's also a toilet, but no water)
