Callie’s Lake & Campground

My husband and I are traveling cross country and felt quite lucky when we landed at Callie's Lake and Campground. We had a beautiful large site overlooking the lake and woods. Calle greeted us with a warm smile when we arrived, shared some local stories and made us a great breakfast in the morning. Wish we could have stayed longer but will make sure we do next time through.

Stayed for 4 nights. The staff is kind and courteous, the campground is clean and tidy. Our site had plenty of room. Callie makes ribs and pork on her smoker on the weekends which is terrific! We will definitely return. Friday night the place was full, seemed like a lot more people from around the area rather than vacationers. I was worried but it was still quiet as it should be after 10 pm!

I’ve stayed at Callie’s several times and will definitely stay there again. It’s a great spot right off the Kentucky Adventure Trail and several over-landing groups use it as a launch point. Sites are first-come-first serve, $15 a night for tent sites, and there are a lot of sites. Head to the back for quieter camping, stay toward the front if you like to socialize. All sites have fire pits, some have picnic tables, most are reasonably flat.

They have a general store that serves breakfast on the weekends, incredibly clean showers/bathrooms included with your site fee, and less clean porta-pots throughout the grounds. They also have a small lake and playground for the kids.
