As I pulled in tonight to camp here, a law enforcement officer drove up and let me know camping is no longer permitted at least temporarily. Apparently, they'd had people trying to live here, dumping trash, planting crops even. But, just before this area, on the other side of a cattle guard (where the sign is I took a picture of) is BLM land (Santa Fe Ranch Recreation Area) that is still permitted up to 14 days. The officer indicated it may reopen for camping again once it's all cleaned up.

We arrived on dusk. Quite a few campers parked just off the road in but heaps of space for everyone.

its nice. tons of area, plenty flat, easy to have isolation. There was a LOT of trash, the wind was unrelenting (flipped my solar panel and ripped off the lid of my roof hatch).
theres frequent activity of dune buggies tearin’ it up out there, but everyone seems nice/happy.

Got here at 10pm and saw some open areas suitable for boondocking. Had to drive around for a quick minute to find a place far away enough from a handful of other RV’s that were scattered about but there is so much land here it was not difficult to find.

Very close to Santa Fe, this is an easy spot, if you are looking for a free place, there will always be a spot because the place is huge.
It’s pretty clean and quiet.
Most of our neighbors were travelers, with vans.

It seems like it would have been a really great area with lots of spots but for us there was just a ton of people. Although that wasn't the bad part. The people we happend to park across from on the dirt road you can tell have been living out there for quite awhile. They were very irresponsible with their dogs running around off leash so we couldnt let our dogs out, like to be loud and scream at eachother to the point of the guy being locked out of his trailer and he is banging on the door around 1am to get back in. Oh and just after dark he was yelling at people trying to come into camp because it was "late". Literally did not feel safe and didnt sleep at all. The next morning we moved over to the Santa Fe Ranch recreation area that you pass on your way in and it was great! Way more peaceful and quiet and no one around.
I guess overall just be mindful of who you park next to!! Also tip if you do stay here, after the cattle guard turn left. That road is way smoother and easier to access. If you go back further in there tends to be more spots too.
