This campground has some really great things going for it. The area is gorgeous and the river is right next to the campground but there are some major downsides.
There are only 3 designated campsites and only two of them are big rig friendly. If all of the campsites are taken you can camp in the small parking area at the end of the campground.
We camped on the edge of the parking lot which was fairly level and nice but there were quite a few late night campers coming in and driving around us.
The road noise is also an issue. The campground is right below a turn in the highway and there were some semi trucks braking hard to take the turn late at night.
If you fish this is an excellent destination but otherwise it's mostly just a nice campground to stop for a night.

We travel in a 40’ Super C so we need places that have relatively easy access. This place was perfect for accessibility and we loved it was right along the San Miguel River. It’s very small, only a few designated spots that would work for smaller rigs, car or tent camping. Parking lot area where we camped was very flat so easy leveling. There’s a vault toilet, though I never used it so not sure how clean it was, but guessing it’s well-maintained. There’s a large turnaround at the end of the parking lot where large rigs like ours can park and turn around. During the day, there are fly fishers that frequent the river but aside from that, it’s a pretty peaceful and chill location. Nighttime is amazing and we caught a meteor shower one of the nights we were there. It’s super dark so very easy for star gazing.
This is an excellent spot to camp for day trips to any number of places in the area. Telluride, Million Dollar Highway, etc. AT&T signal was OK, decent enough to stream videos. We had no Verizon signal in the area.

This campground has only 3 official sites, but we bypassed them to park in the dirt parking lot at end. The road was easy to drive and we pulled up right next to the San Miguel river on a flat piece of land. The constant sound of the river flow was wonderful! It was amazing to have access to so much water after spending a month in the desert! We opened our awning, set up our chairs, and felt we had a private beach. The ride into Telluride was about 18 miles, but it is a gorgeous drive. Cell service was 1-2 bars but with our WeBoost, we easily got 3-4.
We think this place is awesome!

Right off the highway. There’s maybe one campsite and a large parking lot. There are bathroom facilities, a couple picnic tables and fire pits, and it’s along the river.
We are in a 25 ft class C RV. No one else was here so it was nice and cozy.
We have a weboost cell booster which is giving us ATT and Verizon a bar or two of LTE.

Stayed here July 4 and wanted to be somewhat close to Telluride but also accessible to 62 for hiking the next day. We lucked up with the tent spot right on the river with a picnic table and a couple fire pits. The bugs weren't as bad as I anticipated but still were a little much. Even if you park in the lot, there are some good tent spots into the woods a little while still not being on one another. We saw a couple of people do this and use one of the main picnic tables in the middle for cooking dinner and breakfast. Great place for fishing too -- we saw a couple people in the river during the day.

This has been one of my favorite dry camping spots! There’s a river to take a dip in, close to telluride and there’s bathrooms! Only downside was lots of mosquitos but by the time it was getting dark so we were closing our doors anyway.

FREE. Nice BLM area along the river. There are only 2-3 established sites, but a medium sized parking area to enjoy. This was a central spot for us to visit Telluride, Ridgeway and Silverton. It is next to the highway, however it gets quite around 7 PM.

This area contains plenty of parking for all rig types on gravel maintained. surfaces. There are restrooms and picnic tables. The best part about the whole thing was the River. We ended up parking out 30ft class A right next to the river on the pull out.

I drove by this campsite and saw that I had a couple bars of LTE on Verizon at the highway. I imagine you’d be able to pick it up at the camp which is right next to it. Looks like an awesome spot I will definitely return to camp here some time and to confirm the cell signal.

This is well-maintained, free US Forest Service campground on the bank of the San Miguel River. With the exception of one campsite, it is all gravel. There are 2 pull-throughs, a small back-in site and a covered picnic table at the entrance. There is a very long pull-through, a large dirt back-in site, picnic table, clean vault toilets, and raft/kayak ramp in the center. At the far end is a large gravel area that would make at least 4 sites with good space between.Overall, the sites are very well separated. There is no water or dumpster.
I camped at the far end. With the exception of one night when a 5th wheeler with a noisy contractor's generator decided to park right in front of me, there were never more than 3 other campers here. There was no cell signal. There was a 3G signal just down the road in Placerville.
This section of Hwy 145, west of the Placerville intersection with Hwy 62 from Ridgway, is the Unaweep Tabeguache National Scenic Byway. It goes through some very remote country. Road noise at the campground was not a problem.
This is a convenient location for Ouray, the Million Dollar Highway and Telluride.
