Bull Creek Park Campground

We were heading East towards I20 out of Carlsbad. Empty countryside for miles. This looked like an available spot that we could reach before sunset. It was several miles down a country road, thankfully paved. The entrance had a chain with a closed sign but the chain was dragging on the ground so we were still able to drive in. Basically a gravel driveway with half a dozen picnic shelters on the grass. We had a nice grassy spot, There is a toilet building with Men/women signs but we didn’t use that. A couple of barrels set out for trash. The end of the driveway slopes down as a boat launch but the water level was so low that there was mostly red mud shoreline. Quiet night.

Not many places in this area had been reviewed so we took a chance and chose Bull Creek Park. We were the only ones there, the campground is located next to a nice lake - but very windy! Lots of flat ground with large sites.
Lots of prickles in the grass, our pets were really uncomfortable walking around here.
Rubbish and bits of broken glass around lake. Toilets were not clean.
Honesty box. $5 per night.
