The road into the Brush Creek area campsites is a two lane gravel base road that is treated for dust. It was well maintained and not washboard. It has gentle slopes and is busy during the hiking and biking season. There are multiple trailheads in the area. You will see bikes along the length of the road, and tons of prairie dogs as well. There is a working cattle ranch on the road so be aware that road blockages by trailers can occur.
It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond Tent City: Approx 6 miles from Hwy 135. Avoid Strand Hill Road and West Brush Creek Road, as they are very rough and require high-clearance 4×4 vehicles.
As you pass the turn off for Tent City the road becomes a series of random humps and holes. High clearance is a must in this section and a hearty set of kidneys. If you make it through the humps without whiplash or a broken axle you will enter a stand of aspens.
The road then narrows further and follows the contour of the mountainside. It is the width of a pickup truck with long stretches without a pullout. The road crosses West Brush Creek at a low point and care must be taken due to water levels. The site is located in the second large stand of aspens you will enter.
The site is shaded and not far off the road.
There is no cellular coverage in the Brush Creek valley.
