We stayed here for three nights. No reservations so we had plan B and C in case it was full. We had two campers and were the only ones there. Nice sites (we chose 11 and 12). Some sites have shade but others are full sun. There are views of Bristol Head mountain from most sites and vistas from all. The pit toilets are very clean an... more
We stayed here for three nights. No reservations so we had plan B and C in case it was full. We had two campers and were the only ones there. Nice sites (we chose 11 and 12). Some sites have shade but others are full sun. There are views of Bristol Head mountain from most sites and vistas from all. The pit toilets are very clean and maintained. The campgound is about 25 minutes from Creede and about 25 miles from Lake City. There is ample water to fish there and a small hike off the campground that takes you to numerous falls.
We also looked at Clear Creek campground which I will also recommend. It is wooded so no big vistas but two sires are riverside.

We have stayed here two years in a row. It is a “no reservation” campground but we have never had a problem finding a spot. We have a 36ft 5th wheel and there are a number of spots big enough for us. We have stayed here two years in a row. It is a “no reservation” campground but we have never had a problem finding a spot. We have a 36ft 5th wheel and there are a number of spots big enough for us. Don, the campground host has bee doing this for thirteen years! He keeps spotlessly bathrooms, cleanest we have ever seen!
There is water, hand pump. You can access some falls from the campground and it’s 30 minutes to Creede for provisions.
Beautiful views of Bristol Head and many areas to fish but this year it’s super dry.

Bristol head is just off hway 149 (Silver thread scenic hway) on a maintained dirt road. North clear creek campground is 2 miles on out. The spaces are level and can accommodate most rigs. Bristol head is just off hway 149 (Silver thread scenic hway) on a maintained dirt road. North clear creek campground is 2 miles on out. The spaces are level and can accommodate most rigs. There are two nice vault toilets and water ( hand pumps). All the spaces are on one side so each space has a clear view of the mountains. There is a beautiful scenic waterfall down a quarter mile trail. Moose can be viewed in the stream in the campground at times. There is a store nearby with amazing food and a few groceries. The camp hosts have been here for years and know the area well! A very nice camp!
