We stayed in two different non-electric sites, two nights in a row. We stayed in sites 13 and 17.
Pros: The sites were a good size, flat, and not too close to one another. The firepits were large and each had a grill that could be put over; they looked well-maintained. The tables are metal, which feels like a big upgrade from the typical wooden ones. Good trees for hanging hammocks. Kiln-dried firewood $5 per bunch within walking distance. The nature trails are woodsy, and there are some nice views. No noise from any surrounding roads. Bathroom was stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer when we were there. Cave of the Mounds is close by. The nearby Citgo grocery store has great options for meat, dairy, and produce.
Cons: the bathroom was a little bit spooky at night, and smelly. I heard one airplane overhead both nights. Other than hiking and Cave of the Mounds, there’s not too much to do in the area.

I camped here several years ago while working in the area. It's essentially unchanged - 10 sites with electric hookups and the remainder primitive. All the sites are back-in but the electric sites back up to a nice open natural area. The nature paths are nice and there is paved access to Blue Mound and the Military Ridge Trail. The nightly rate is $20 with a $10 fee tacked on for the reservation. It's a sweet little park with water available at the drinking fountains (a separate threaded spigot) - there is one right at the entrance for filling freshwater tanks. There are others but not accessible to vehicles. I was able to receive major networks OTA (not PBS though) along with pretty good AT&T (7-10 down/10-12 up) and T-Mobile (highly variable down 2-14/1-2 up).

We stayed overnight here on a Sunday night while travelling south to Illinois. This is one of five parks run by Dane County. Only 4 sites here have electricity, which is 50 amp - all the other sites have no services. There is drinking water available but not at each site. The pit toilets are kept very clean. The park is fully shaded and has several group shelters (which can be reserved) as well as a playground. Be sure to take advantage of the senior discount ($2/night) if you qualify.
