“National Forest Campground Needs Tuneup”

Overall Rating

We chose this campground because we wanted to be close to Logan to go into town and this place fit the bill. We had originally planned on the free campground 1/4 mile up the road but that place is pretty trashed and only has a couple sites for RV which are in full-sun.

So the positives: 3.3 miles to town. Shaded sites to keep pets cool during the very hot weather. Sites 1-5 have river access from behind the sites which the dogs appreciated. River Trail hike can be accessed from the campground. Campsites are pretty private. Nice new fire rings and picnic tables.

On the downside: This is more of a $10 national forest campground vs the $17 price tag it holds. They need to do a bit of tree trimming. I would not pull a 5th wheel or even a Class A into this place. We got a good rubdown from the overhead branches with our 10' high Airstream. The turnaround loop is tight. There are a lot of scraggly bushes and grasses around the campsites where snakes hide. I don't mind snakes but I know it's a big deal to some, no rattlesnakes least that we saw. The noise from the road is very loud which was the deal-killer for this place. Sitting outside, we had to pause while talking to each other so we could hear what was said. However at night, inside, even with a window in the bedroom open the noise didn't bother us.

We really did appreciate the proximity to town however I'd probably look at one of the campgrounds further up the road next time since there are plenty just a couple more miles up. However if we did stay here again, we'd choose site 5 which is skinny but tucked in the back corner with plenty of white noise from the river and a bit further from the road.

Even boosted, Verizon here was pretty unusable except for brief checks of email and Instagram.
