Breezy Hill RV Resort

Using reviews to adjust expectations really adds to the camping experience. The most noted items in the reviews for Breezy Hill do apply: strange sewer hookups, lots of Canadiens, tight spots, etc. However, knowing them in advance helped us to enjoy our stay. The hookups worked fine though they require a little bending over. The Quebecois all seemed nice, though the language barrier does complicate things. The spots compare to many of the Florida parks we have stayed at. I would add a couple other items: the key code access (a UPC on a printed page) could use better explanation. The recycling accepted aluminum cans but I couldn't figure out if they took anything else (French directions). Our last night there, they seemed to have some sort of celebration (music and partying) until 11:00. Lots of construction happening as well. However, as far as access goes, we could spend time away from the park easily. Short drive to I-95, near gas, groceries, etc. I would camp here again, especially after getting a feel for how the park works.

Thousand Trails stay at the time, by far the closest TT to the beach we stayed at. Stayed here winter 2021, during that time the border to Canada was closed. This Park is heavily French Canadian influenced, most of the signs are in french and a lot of the residents are Canadian. The sites have the sewer under the driveway so you have to angle your sewer out from under your rig, we just set it up and back up into it, instead of crawling underneath. The pool is nice and there is a huge bocce ball area.

For all of the hype and rules this place has, it was a no-go for us. We had an angled site and the pipe wouldn’t have been under us. Things are boarded up all over and it seems like a ghost town with a few active rigs in it. Large envelope left at the front office. No one to answer the phone. There were a few residents walking around in their nightgowns at 3pm.

Decided to stay at a Harvest Host up the road to regroup. Maybe it would be better if it was staffed regularly and more people were around...

I have read many bad reviews about this park and it had me concerned. Yes the sites are tight and can be a bit of a challenge to get into, but if you are experienced at backing in it should not be an issue. There was some garbage on the ground, we cleaned it up. The neighbors were friendly. The bathhouses were very clean. The laundry was large and reasonably priced, but you do need to buy a card. The pool was beautiful and there were brand new pickleball courts. Like other have said the sewer connection was under the RV but not that big of a deal. Our power pedestal was newer and power was solid at 120 volts. The park was pretty empty because the French Canadians could not come down due to covid so it gave the park and abandoned feel. Location is what it is about here. Not far from the beach, close to Ft Lauderdale and we even ventured down to Key West from here. If you are picky you will not like it. If you go with the flow it is worth a look. Cell signal for both Verizon and T-mobile was strong.

The RV park equivalent of that crappy hotel Tom Hanks stays in in Big.

We stayed here in February because we could not get in anywhere else in the area we wanted. And because we have Trails Collection and paid $0.

Don’t come here. They expected us to park our RV next to the pad and crawl under the RV for sewer hookup. Power had no circuit breaker to shut off before plugging in.

I heard train at 6am. Cats everywhere. No one at gatehouse - just left poor instructions outside with just my husband's first name on it.

We barely fit our 35’ fifth wheel and had no place to park the truck. Hard to maneuver. Check-in is supposed to be 1pm but people grabbed better spots earlier. We were given a list of alternative spots- but they were all taken.

Mobile home park - we were surrounded by them - most were boarded up.

I hope never to resort to this place again

We had plans to visit family in the area so we decided to use our Thousand Trails membership to stay at Breezy Hill. I grew up in S. FL and I know that Dixie Hwy is know for being a "rough" area but Breezy Hill is well gated and fenced and it feels safe and secure. You are in the city so you will hear traffic and the occasional siren. The train tracks are close, but far enough that the sound was barely noticeable to me and they don't use the train horns after 10 PM.

We stayed in the July and the park was basically empty. There may have been 3 or 4 other non-permanent RVs in the park at any given time. The park is about 50% filled with long-term units, single-wides and double-wides and a few full-time RVs but even those were 90% vacant at the time. The way the sites are situated, they would be VERY tight if we did have anyone next to us, so it's fortunate that we did not.

Unfortunately the pools and recreation areas were closed due to Covid so I can't really comment on them other than they look nice.

The location is about 15 or 20 minutes drive to the beach. You could not feasibly walk or bike to the beach from here.

Our site only had a 50 amp socket so make sure you have an adapter if you need 30 amp. The hook-ups for some of the sites are not where you might expect so bring extra water and sewer hoses and power extension cords just in case.

You have to pay for wifi through Camplink. It cost me $15/week and I had a very good and fast (20-30MB) connection but I would expect it to be slower if the park was more full.

The office was closed due to Covid, but I did have to call a couple of times and had no issues with language barriers like others have described. The staff I spoke to was very friendly and helpful.

I would definitely recommend staying here if you are coming to the area and have a Thousand Trails (with Trails Collection add-on) membership... IN the summertime.

I stayed here as part of the Thousand Trails Trails Collection. Several stays over the summer and fall, the park was mostly empty in the summer, except for some permanent residents. It fills with Canadian snowbirds starting November.

The main feature you have to know about is layout of most sites. It's so strange I can barely describe it. Sites are more or less in pairs and overlap, sort of... one site is set back from the road, and the adjacent site is next to it, right at the road's edge. Each site has a concrete patio, which is nice. If you're in one of the rear sites, you park your car in front of your rig. If you're in one of the front sites, you park next to your rig on the driver's side, in front of the patio for the rear site. You will be close to your neighbors, but If you do it right, you should have room to open your slides and awning. As a TT member, you don't get to choose your site, it's assigned before you arrive.

Now... whoever designed the water and sewer system was drunk. Your sewer hole might be under the rig, it might be behind the rig, it might be on the passenger's side. They're all different. You may or not need a sewer extension. Water outlet location is similarly random, but easier to deal with. All the electric hookups I've seen were 50 amp, and voltage is 120 or slightly higher, at least when the park is empty. I'm not sure how it will be when it's full on a hot day with many AC's running, so keep an eye on it.

Overall, it can be described as a big parking lot. I don't come here for the park, but for the South Florida location and the low cost, and I either stay in my rig or go elsewhere. There is a pool that I haven't used. I assume there are rest rooms, but they must be near the pool complex; they probably won't be close enough to your site to be convenient.

The neighborhood is not especially bad but not great either. Nearby Dixie Highway has a few destitute people walking around, a pawn shop down the street. But inside the park it feels pretty safe. Well, there was a murder last month; the victim was a permanent resident and apparently the suspect knew him, so it wasn't a random thing.

Going a mile east to US 1, or west to Military Trail, you'll find nicer businesses and restaurants. There are trains nearby but they no longer blow their horns, so you might not even hear them.

Winter Update: During winter, the park was very full with Quebec snowbirds. Verizon slows way down. I had one site deep in the park where I could barely get usable signal during the daytime. The laundry uses a card system; slightly wasteful but washers and dryers were much cheaper than public laundromats. Rarely more than 1-2 people using it in the evening, and it's open to the air so it felt relatively safe during the pandemic shutdown.

Summary... if you have the Trails Collection and you need a place to park with hookups in South Florida, it's the best bet. Highland Woods is adjacent and basically part of the same operation. I'm pretty sure it's much better than their Fort Lauderdale park, Sunshine Holiday.

The park is mostly snowbirds from Quebec Canada, and mostly French speaking. Most of the notices were posted only in French. Park is about half park models with permanent or longterm residents. Many of the other RV spots are also longterm.

The RV spots are dated and small. Our trailer barely fit into the site and the sewer access was underneath the trailer. Water and electric service connects were also dated and water was shut off twice during our stay.

We would consider staying again, mostly because it was close to who we were visiting in the area.
