This was a nice free beach camp site. Few other campers around. Sand hard packed. Some road noise from Highway but this is offset from the sound of the ocean waves. We went to Brazoria Wildlife Refuge nearby and did the 7 mile driving tour with you tube narration. Highly recommend! Saw lots of birds, turtles, and alligators.

It was free, and absolutely beautiful! The night was good and we slept well but in the morning when we woke up to go to the toilet, there was tons of mosquitos. Bring bug spray and enjoy this GEM!

We were the only ones within miles. The waves put us to sleep and we woke to catch the sunrise.
Great weekend trip.. no hookups or dumps here so be prepared.

Beautiful views, plenty of room, warm water. Watch out for crab larvae, they get into your clothes in the water and pinch. Irritating but harmless.

Wonderful beach setting! Beautiful location, good weather, dumpsters and portapotties nearby but that might have been due to the triathlon going on that weekend -- might not be always. We slept great, had a wonderful campfire each night and enjoyed the views, the animals, the water and the beach.
Signal/connection was fantastic. The cell tower to the far east, close to Beach Access 5 was able to pull 512 Mbp/s on a 5G Tmobile phone when we were close to it. We parked between 4 and 5 and we usually got signal in the range of 80-100 on Tmobile, 20-80 on Verizon, 1-10 on Sprint and 20-40 on AT&T. No connection issues at all.

This was my first boondocking trip! We’re beach people and selected this place based on reviews. The place is spectacular by itself. If you want white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, this is not the place for you. Go to the Alabama or the Florida Panhandle beaches. Regardless, this is a calm and peaceful place to stay. It’s very easygoing during weekdays and busiest on weekends, as expected. I felt safe the whole time. Nights are pitch dark and quiet. Once in while, we saw kids on pickups doing donuts on the sand. They were not close to me, but I kept a watchful eye on them. Others drive too fast in the hard pack sand. That’s the only negative. In summary, we’ll be back! Highly recommended!

Note that from Seagull Ave East is free beachside, dry camping. However we found beach trash bins are nearer to Seagull Ave entrance.
If you are coming from Galveston note that (@the time of this writing) there is a $2 toll on bridge for both directions. We paid in cash & I suspect that is all they take.
If you are coming from Galveston I might suggest stopping @ Kroger there for provisions.
We ran out of small propane tank for our Coleman stove. Surfside stores were completely out so if you are using you might want to bring extra.
Nearby Oyster Creek has a smaller Buckee's where ice is much cheaper, fyi.
Weekend nights the beach seems to be the 'drag' where young guys like to drive multiple times to show off but were respectful. The one kid who wasn't respectful to us? Copper lights immediately on him.
Felt safe here & coming back next month!

Free beach camping with packed sand and easy to drive. There were several other campers and it was more crowded due to spring break. Felt safe and it did quite down after 10. Mosquitoes were out in full force as the wind wasn’t as strong so pack your bug repellent. Need to be self-contained as there is no amenities, we couldn’t even find trash dumpster so pack it in and out. Cute town with some local shops and dining. You can also rent golf carts to drive on beach. I would have like it better less crowded but we would consider coming back!
