Plenty of room for big rigs, quiet, some road noise but not in the evening much. Some hikers - nice trail at end, even had a few horseback riders come in. Will be back. Convenient to town and only about 45 min from Phoenix if you need a big town.

This video describes how to get to Free Camping just a few miles west of Wickenburg, AZ. The first site is actually AZ State Trust Land and you need a permit. The next site is Box Canyon and is a free 14 day BLM camping area. This desert is outrageous! Cell service is a bit spotty in the BLM area. See my Video at: https://youtu.be/PtT... more

This campground was really nice, lots of great spots. I don't know if it's because we came on a Friday but it was really crowded, mostly with big rigs. We managed to fit into a spot, but still felt too close to the rig beside us. People walking by didn't seem to friendly towards us when we waved and said hello. I would like to try back... more

I would like to try back at this place sometime as it is a nice area.

It was pretty busy the day we were there and kind of noisy with all the off roaders. Pretty easy access to the area, we stopped as we were entering Phoenix cause it got late as we were heading to the Superstition Mountains. Not a bad spot all in all. There are no services here of any kind, come prepared. There is a town about 20 minutes away. I would have been willing to stay for a couple days if we had time. I don't remember how good the cell service was, it was a while ago we stayed there. I believe it was spotty.

Stayed here on Christmas Day. Drive past the big rigs parked on the road and you'll find a few individual sites. Site we stayed at had a huge firepit and enough space to have friends come and stay. This would be a great place for group camping! We hiked Vulture Peak you can park your rig and then walk to the pergola/bathroom where the trailhead is. If you bring your horses, please clean up after them. We had to shovel a bunch of horse shit out of our site. It was quiet. Cell service was spotty. If you moved two steps in the wrong direction, you might lose service. If you don't have to be connected, I highly recommend!!! Sites are fairly level.

Very nice scenery, but the camping area is too close to the highway with too many large RVs for the for the size of the place. Cell service was only 3G. I didn't stay.
