The camp fee was $15, which included power (some with 50 amp, others with 30 amp) but then you must tack on a daily, in our case, out of state fee of $8.

We entered on Dunlap Road off of Hiway 385. Although paved this was a rough ride. Every 30 feet or so there was a large crack in the pavement, essentially acting as speed bumps. We left on Road 70, an easier ride out.

The campground has seen better days. The loop part of the campground had 7 sites, most were pretty level. There was an older pit toilet, trash and pay station. Lots of shade from Cottonwood trees. The other 7 electric sites were located along the lake, with a newer pit toilet, and trash bins. These sites were not very level and you could tell that streams run through these sites in the rainy season. Dry camping was difficult to identify, there were no site numbers. It appears this campground is not often used, there was a lot of trash around, despite several large trash bins. Much of the area in the campground and surrounding area had mowed weeds/grass. The best part of the campground was the one level, paved site which we took since no one else was there. A pretty well used dusty, dirt road was not far from our site, however. Large rigs, both tall and long can easily maneuver.

At the time we were there, a new boat launch was being built. The lake, a reservoir, was not very pretty, on our opinion.

We were in transit from South Dakota to Colorado and noticed Box Butte State Rec Area on the atlas. What a pleasant surprise this park was nestled amongst Nebraska's farmland. It was the day after Labor Day and we practically had the place to ourselves. There are 15 electric sites (30 amp - $15) and 10 primitive ($10). There is also a $5 daily Nebraska State Park fee bringing our total nightly cost to $20. We saw no rangers or camp host and the fee works on an honor system.
The lake is pretty and appears to be a popular spot with anglers. We found sites 1-7 to be the most level and accessible to any size RV. Site 1 is paved and appears handicap accessible but wasn't officially noted as such. We loved the dark skies and complete silence.... well except for the crickets and cow mooing. This is a great place to hide and get some work done.
