Enjoyed this stay. Plenty of room to walk our dog and there’s a small boat ramp just past the fairgrounds which allowed our labrador easy access to swimming. Busy area during the day with kids and trains, but the evening (after 10 pm) was quiet and restful. We felt safe.

Very conveniently located, just a little bit into Idaho from Montana. Camping was free, the dump station was free and water was 25 cents for 50 gallons. I think there were rest rooms, or maybe a port-a-potty, but we used our camper bathroom, so I didn't pay close attention

After reading the other reviews, I wondered if I was in the wrong place. Maybe just a fluke that my experience didn’t match others’.
Pros:
- There is 72 hour parking allowed (signs posted)
- Easily accessible and central to town.
- Convenient 2 lane dump station and a single lane fresh water station.
- Bonners Ferry is a very nice and clean town with friendly people.
Cons:
- Trains. LOTS and lots of trains. And, at all hours. Less than 100 yards from the parking area. I lost count of how many trains rolled through. Most of them blared their horns though some didn’t. Almost all of them were hauling lumber, so maybe it’s harvest time right now?
- Lots of car activity in the parking lot up until around 11pm. A pickup truck was trying to do donuts in the parking lot about 50 feet from the three of us (RVs) parked here. People stopping in at all hours to use the ports potties. One truck came by every 30 minutes, drove through the parking lot and then left.
There is a casino, which allows RV parking, 3 minutes from here which I understand has security that monitors the lot. Might be a better option.

Be sure to use the Riverfront to 4th St entrance otherwise you'll have to navigate an 11 ft clearance bridge. This was a great place for us to stop and explore the area. The train tracks are close and the trains are operating. The dump site is close and accessible. There are no hookups.

You will get some train traffice. THere is a track you can see and the other track line is over the way with not so much hornes blowing.
The park is nice with grass and new playground equiptment for the kids..
the prior reviews cover most of the items.. We got infront of the white bathrrom that were closed to get some afternoon shade. the traffice slows down after 7 pm on week nights.
will update when we go throough a night.

Large level gravel lot next to a large park and playground. There is a free dump station and potable water is available. Any size vehicle could park here. Restrooms were closed but they had clean ports potties available. Only a three block walk to restaurants and shopping

In Bonners Ferry at the Fairgrounds. Will take advantage of their 3 day stay limit. Why not. Nice area, great internet and I can watch some TV before bed, dump station, and all Free. Explored the town and area today. Such a great area. Everyone is out and about enjoying the park around the fairgrounds...which is quite extensive I'm finding....baseball fields, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, small skate/BMX area, huge playground. If you stay here and have kids...im sure you could probably enjoy them as well.. But it can get a little noisy during the day....nightime, aside from 1 or 2 trains....very quiet. They have 2 Amish shop/bakerys in the area...make sure you visit them.. delicious. Also Explored the Kootenai wildlife refuge. Tons of birds everywhere. It's about 5 miles from here and about 2,800 acres. There is a 6.5 mile loop with informative pullouts, observation areas and even blinds. 3/4 of the loop is well graded gravel. Really nice park and I'm sure overlooked by many travelers, but well worth spending some time there if in the area. Nice picnic area next to a mountain stream, lots of hiking and biking trails and a information center. I also drove around some back country roads just above the park, about 10 miles until it turned into a dirt road (I was probably pretty close to Canada at that point). Really remote, but still mostly farm land and some of them looked like they have been there forever.
*** update there is a little green building across from the rv dump and it has potable water. Only 0.25 cents per 50 gallons.****

I stayed here one night pulling a 20 ft travel trailer on the way to Canada. It is much like the other reviewer described -- a large gravel lot. There's a fence with a row of trees that provide shade, depending on the time of day. The restroom facility was ok. When I was there it was sufficiently clean and supplied with tissue and paper towels. Dump station and water available. I enjoyed walking around the park and seeing the river before I turned in for the night. The main negative was that it is located along the railroad tracks and trains come through. Also, there was a locomotive engine there, idling and making noise throughout the night. Earplugs helped. Overall, it is ok for an overnight stop.
