“Another great New Mexico State Park”

Reviewed Feb 14, 2018

Overall Rating

This is a great State Park that is close enough to Roswell to be your base camp. Most if not all of the sites were very level, and the pull-thrus were set up nicely. If you are small enough, please use a back in spot and leave the pull-thru spots for larger rigs. Several people I watched pull in late at night couldn't get a spot bec... more

“Chill spot, cheap n clean”

Reviewed Jan 10, 2018

Stayed here for just one night in Jan. We paid $10 for no water or electricity. We could’ve paid $18 for all hook ups but didint need it. The lake was super cool and interesting. There’s a little playground that our four year old had fun on. Restrooms and showers were clean and no extra cost. Great spot for a few nights. Ranger told us... more

Overall, nice place to land. Would have liked 50 amp and sewer but only a few sites have that and were taken. At least we had water and 30 amp. I would suggest sites 24 through 27 for a little shade, privacy between sites and unobstructed views of the lake. Site 23 would also be a good location but there is no shade here or anywher... more

“Good stop over but nothing to go out of your way for”

Reviewed Feb 26, 2017

Needed a stop over between Carlsbad and Albuquerque and this fit the bill. The pros...great value for $19 (50 amp full hookups). The free wifi was excellent. The lakes are beautiful. Close proximity to Roswell for activities. Good roads, easy to navigate. The cons...stickers everywhere tearing up the dogs paws. Worst I have ever... more

“Good overnight spot.”

Reviewed Jan 26, 2017

Overall Rating

Easy to find, we pulled in just after dark and had a peaceful night's rest.
Depending on wind direction, there was an odor like there may have been a cattle stock yard nearby. But otherwise, fit our needs.
Middle of January, so no bugs.

“Lovely Park but we were driven out by FLIES!”

We pulled in late Saturday afternoon without a reservation and found one full hookup site we could fit in (non reservable) for $18 a night (we don't have the New Mexico SP annual camping pass). It was a beautiful, scenic 5 mile drive in from the main road but when we pulled up at the Lea Lake campground (for RVs, the first, other campg... more

Could use some better signage at the entrance. Where the sign points to the right for the park takes you on a fairly rough, narrow road to the campground. Ignore the sign and go straight; you end up in the same place, but on a much better road. The camp host was really helpful getting us situated. There is free Wi-Fi, but without ... more

“Nice overnight spot to escape the wind”

Reviewed Jun 29, 2016

Overall Rating

Springtime winds in New Mexico and the Texas panhandle can get pretty fierce. High winds in the 50mph range were forecasted so I decided to spend the afternoon and night at a campground to ride it out. Bottomless Lakes was a perfect place! The park sits on the west edge of a long, mostly north-south bluff. The campground is tucked ... more
