We stayed over a weekend (Oct 21,2022) when my daughter was running a 5k that took place inside of the state park. We lucked in to the best spot! Site 41 is beach side and right in front of a break in the low sand wall so you have a great view. The break in the wall has an asphalt path fairly far out onto the beach with a bench at the end so I was able to take the dog that far. We rode our bikes to the dog beach that is only a couple minutes away. The bike path is fantastic. My phone service on T-Mobile was great and there are plenty of food options close by. The sites are a decent size, but the aisle between the two rows is very narrow and I wouldn’t have wanted to have more than my tiny trailer trying to maneuver. I saw several people have major issues with their longer RVs. Some of us moved our trucks as needed to help people get into their sites but not everyone was “home” or helpful. I didn’t have any more partying on my weekend than any other campground and I had no issues sleeping. Dump station was easy to navigate for any size rig and is just outside of the camping area before you go in. I can’t wait to go back!

If this doesn’t sound intimidating, the beach is beautiful. The weather is perfect, the kids will have fun. But I prefer Leo Carrillo SB; also super tight pads but plenty of room to maneuver, no noise from PCH, a peaceful beach all around.
Every single star was for the state of California trying to make space for RV’s and the volunteer camp hosts who are great. I truly appreciate the effort, it’s just a difficult setup. There is a rear porch but if you’re on the PCH side, your porch abuts heavy road noise and this space would be more effective as flat asphalt.

We stay here every year at Christmas except the last 2 due to COVID but anyway.
We don’t mind the Pavement just pick a site with a nice cement pad by the board walk we have a dog and we love walking to the dog beach.
We have been lucky not bothered by any parties or space merging.

There is no respect for site boundaries. I had a few neighbors in the week I was here and two of the three thought it was fine to walk behind my rig, some stood and carried on conversations while looking into my rig. One thought it was cool to set chairs against my rig. Quiet hours are not respected. Again, the beach is beautiful but many of “campers” are rude with no concern for others. If you’re in the beach side you have a great view but have a heavily trafficked walk and bike path behind you. If you’re on the other side of the campground you have very noisy PCH behind you. (This is my second time at this campground. I had similar experiences the first time but thought the holiday weekend may have been the problem. I will not return.)

Well... the beach is beautiful. The campground is basically a parking lot with a single lane road separating two rows of tight and tiny parking spots. The rules set by the camp host require your camping vehicle to
"remain between the lines". Unfortunately, tow vehicles are also allowed to "stay between the lines " which, very effectively, prohibits any latecomer to maneuver into the aforementioned tight and tiny parking spots. Better off purchasing a parking dolly to maneuver a trailer. At that point why bother with this place? Also, Reserve California WILL NOT refund any monies after" Checking in ". With no other choice we left, never to return.

I had trouble sleeping due to road noise all night even with windows shut. Sites were tight. Water and 50/30 electricity, no sewer but dump available. Showers were available for $2 and were not very warm. Beach itself was great (no dogs allowed) with nice fire pits available for wood burning first come first serve. Very convenient location but road noise would keep me from coming back.

You’re packed into a large concrete RV park with little separation between you and your neighbors. But, you are steps away from the beach, hot showers, flush toilets and multiple oceanfront bars and restaurants with live music, and a quick bike ride into downtown Huntington Beach.
There is also day use parking available, and free dump stations for all park guests, $15 admission for regular cars and more for RV’s. Also accepts the Ca State Park pass.

Normally we would not stay in a parking lot type campground located on the PCH unless the waves were firing and we were hoping for morning session. Unfortunately, we were in HB so Shon could have shoulder surgery. This campground is convenient for surfers looking for a place to hookup their rigs and enjoy the surf at Bolsa.
Favorite moment - Visiting with old friends.
Nice laundromat on 17th street.
Great tacos at Fiesta Grill on 17th street...say Hola to Carlos.

If you have a big trailer there’s no way you’re parking with your rig. We are not on the sand side so there’s a lot of noise from PCH. I can’t complain as we didn’t have a reservation. The market wasn’t open so we had to drive to go get ice. It’s about 3.5 Miles to the HB pier where the nearest 7-11 is. The spots would be worth the fee if you were across from where we are backed up to the sand.

The spots are very tight and everyone is on top of each other.
The access to the beach is amazing. Way better then any hotel or house in the area. Only thing separating you is a bike path. The bike path is really busy but everyone was respectful of our “space” & we felt very safe.
The hook ups include electric & water with no dump. There is a dump station the next parking lot over but expect to wait in line. Showers and bathrooms were always clean and well stocked.
