This campground is well cared for and heavily used. It’s worth noting that many of the upstream sites are far above the river, with a steep drop, therefore not accessible. If being close to the river is important, be downstream of site 14 or 15. Sites are large. Also, sites upstream of 06 or so are fairly close to the highway, which is surprisingly busy.
The camp hosts do a good job of keeping the place in good shape.
There is zero cell coverage.

We booked our site months in advance, and even then, we were only able to get site 31, which is near the host and removed from the river. We booked our site months in advance, and even then, we were only able to get site 31, which is near the host and removed from the river. I figured it would be fine as we could just walk to the river whenever we wanted. Not so. The campground isn’t laid out in a thoughtful manner. The sites close to the river are mostly fantastic. But there’s really only one “public” river access point that doesn’t require traipsing through campsites, and at the peak of summer, it’s usually occupied.
Some sites off the river are nice, but site 31 and many others have little shade and are within sniffing distance of the potties which were ripe during our stay. Site 14 was particularly pungent.
Your opinion of this campground will depend on your ability to reserve a riverside site, and the best seem to begin around site 15 and end at site 27.
There are no first come sites at Bogan Flats. That said, cancellations do happen, and we were able to reserve an additional night in a different site.
The elevation of Bogan Flats makes for a refreshing respite from the heat, the afternoon thunderstorms were exciting and rejuvenating, and the drive from Glenwood Springs to the campground was gorgeous. Also, visiting the town of Marble and dining at Slow Groovin’ BBQ in Marble was a highlight.
If the layout of the campground made for better river access, the potties were less stinky, and if there were at least a few first come sites available to campers who weren’t able to book six months in advance, we would give this campground 5 stars. That said, it is a pretty spot, and if you can score a riverside site, you will be stoked.

Very clean toilets and always well taken care of. We took a jeep tour to the Crystal Mill a great adventure if you want to see one of Colorado's most photographed locations. Fishing is decent on the Crystal with Browns and Rainbows. On the last trip over Memorial Day 2015 we stayed 8 days.
