There are plenty of room to park, and you can even drive over the shallow river, today is 95F, a lot of families taking kids playing in the water, water temperature is warm.

My stay was in area 1 which is the main area. There is an open lot where lots of other campers spread out hodge lodge. Area 2 seemed to be slight better than what I’m about to describe except much smaller. This is an excellent trout fishing campsite and I had a great time here in January. The river is awesome and close to campsites. But there are some real issues that you need to be aware of if you are an RVer. The road going into the main campsites in area 1 is a one lane dirt road. I don’t know what happens if 2 RVs meet going opposite directions. I was lucky to not find out. My RV is a 32’ 5th wheel and I wouldn’t have gone down that road knowing what I know now. Tree limbs galore. I dodged most but there’s too many untrimmed trees to avoid them all. There is a very narrow single lane bridge crossing a creek. I was nervous going across it for sure. Sites are full of ruts, holes and big slopes. Bring lots of leveling blocks. A bunch of standing deadwood. Watch for tree limbs or trees that could crash on your rig. All that said, it’s a free camp site that gives you great river access but is not maintained well. Small RVs won’t have too much trouble but should still plan on dealing with the rough conditions in the sites. Wish the wildlife department would at least grade the roads and campsites.

I loved this place. The campsites are following the river, many access points to fish, swim, or just sunbathe in the rocks. I took mostly video, but I’ll share some photos. I stayed in area 1. I stayed in area 1. Another area looked like the access road wouldn’t have worked for my minivan. If I had a truck, I would have been exploring it in a heartbeat.
Get your fishing license for Oklahoma first, it is required. I didn’t have one and nobody checked, but I’m getting one when I get home. First because I want to support awesome spots like this and second, because I want to come back!
There’s really no coverage on my ATT cell. BUT, there’s an awesome little store right before you enter the area. It’s so convenient, you can get ice and supplies, and internet (2bars, but did the job).
Highly recommend.
One note- my visit was mid March on a Monday, and area 1 was about 85% full.
