Easy access to Florissant Fossil Beds, Pikes Peak road and Cripple Creek railroad plus nearby towns if you’re ok with 20-40 min drives.

We easily found a space midweek, but noticed most spaces were already reserved for the weekend. The dirt road in is well graded and easy to drive. The campground host was friendly and helpful. Good AT&T reception. Note, the water at the camp is a hand pump well, fine for filling bottles, but doesn’t work to fill an RV tank. Would stay here again!

We arrived on a Monday afternoon with a reservation for Site #5, but it was too slopey for a tent, so we were able to switch to Site #7 which was much flatter and still close to the restroom and the dumpster (which we could sometimes smell if the wind picked up). The vault toilets were fairly clean. The trees provided some shade, but the biting flies are pretty bad. Close to a short trail that takes you to Eleven Mile Canyon "overlook" and you can get a little cell signal up there.
Overall the campground is nice but noise will echo here like crazy. Throughout our stay there was a crying toddler, a barking dog, and a woman who talked loudly all evening long. A family came in after 10 p.m. and made all kinds of noise trying to get their popup trailer situated. On the plus side, if you love the stars like I do, you will get a Dark Sky on a clear night. Eleven Mile Canyon is a lovely drive too and well worth the $7 fee. The entrance is right around the corner.

Blue Mountain Campground requires a short walk or drive to Eleven Mile Canyon. We were here mainly for fishing, but hiked around some too. We drove from the camp site each day up the canyon to look for new fishing spots.
Overall, the area was quieter and had less traffic than those inside of Eleven Mile. The only real noise was vehicles traveling up and down the road just outside the campground.
If you tell the attendant at the gate for Eleven Mile that you are staying at Blue Mountain, you only have to pay for one day for your whole trip. It was $7 for the day.
