As Thousand Trails members, we were excited when this park became part of our membership. We love Colorado and the views in the park are beautiful overlooking the Blue Mesa Reservoir. We visited in July of 2022 and were in site 354 which is an end site at the top of the hill. We loved having the extra space of an end site, but it is more work walking up the hill from the amenities!
Speaking of, the amenities are amazing. We loved the outdoor pool especially (there's an indoor one too)! The playground, mini-golf, family center, fishing pond, and even horseback rides directly in the park will keep you busy. Our kids didn't want to leave. :)
Going into Gunnison is fairly easy, and for our young kids, the splash area at the Gunnison mural and the large playground at Jorgensen Park are fun to visit. Crested Butte and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park are must see places in day-trip range.
We did struggle with internet connectivity while here, but being able to use park Wi-Fi was nice. Since then we've upgraded to Starlink (we noticed many people at the park using theirs), so that would make the experience even better next time. You may want to have extra lengths of hose/cable as well as some of the hookups are fairly far back in some of the sites.
We would love to visit the park again for sure! We have a campground review video as well if you'd like to see more! https://youtu.be/VoRnRblRB3I

We would stay here again if we were going to be in the area since it’s free with our membership, but wouldn’t go out of our way to stay here again.

You share power pedestals and water, but both work great. Sites have picnic table with concrete pad. If you are a working nomad you better plan on working in common area that has hotspot or going into Gunnison. Cell phone service with booster is 0. The park has park wide wireless connection, but after connecting you are not going anywhere on the internet. Lots of seasonal campers, but plenty of open spots. Two pools, one open and not heated and one in front common building that has heated pool.
I would stay here again as it is so beautiful and overviews Gunnison Lake feed by Gunnison River. .

The weather was pretty perfect the entire time we stayed with a few thunder storms. They have so many activities for kids to keep busy. No cell service but we had a Starlink which worked great for Zoom meetings and watching tv.
We did a quick video to show sites and amenities.

Beautiful views
Large Lots.
Negative
No WiFi or Cell connectivity (Verizon)
Hookups at back of the sites . My waste discharge hose would not reach the dump.
Majority of campers seemed to be year-round or long-term. Seemed there were no restrictions ( or not enforced) on storage on the lots e.g. bikes, boat, tarps etc.

The main lodge was nice and even had an indoor pool. The adult lodge up the hill a bit was small but almost empty. Luckily I was able to get my Starlink installed!

We are part of Thousand Trails and this campground is part of our membership. We paid extra to stay in a 50amp pull thru site near the family center. We had great views and the staff here is excellent. The rumors are true though, cell service and WiFi are really spotty here. Sometimes our kids could stream Netflix, sometimes I couldn’t even pull up a website. I think they’re actively working to fix this, but it can be frustrating. WiFi at the clubhouse and family center is good. We appreciated the community events like burger night, karaoke, and kid craft time. All of the public spaces were clean and taken care of.
From here you’re close to a cute historic downtown and lots of hiking trails. We loved it and would come again.

This is the newest addition to a Thousand Trails membership. I was there the day they opened for the season. A few hiccups as one might expect on opening day. I must say everyone was the friendliest I have seen in a CG. This is after 5 year of full time living in my motorhome and a number of years before that of RV ownership. Kudos to the staff!
This is in some high elevation hilly area. It took me a few spots to find one that I could level my motorhome. 5th wheels and travel trailers I doubt would have a problem. The sites are gravel with a pad for a picnic table. The electric and sewer hookups are pretty far so be prepared. The showers in one area did not work but the toilets did and were clean. The outdoor pool and hot tub was not open yet but the indoor ones were.
If you are coming here for internet this is not the place for it. I could connect with my ATT data plan with a cell booster but once connected I was roaming. Not wanting to risk losing my plan for exceeding low limits while roaming I was relegated to the park wifi internet. My cell phone for talking worked fine with the booster (also ATT). Usually there is a charge for the wifi internet but they were including it for free for now. I am not sure if it will always be free but it was now for everyone who asked. There is a warning on the page where you sign in that you use will be monitored for excess. I guess watching a few youtube videos is in excess of the limits because I was cut off. It would come back later but like I said if you are coming needing internet this is not the place. They do charge for 50 amp electric service. I was fine with 30. I think it was $5/day for 50A.
The ride to town is about 20 miles. Gunnison is a decent sized with a regular Walmart and 2 other grocery stores. The Walmart has no freezer section nor produce. The City Market was well stocked and much better than the Safeway. There are some good restaurants in town also. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP is about an hour away and is recommended. It is a lessor known park but very scenic and not crowded. The construction on 50 is a problem as the shut down the road for one way traffic Mon-Fri so i went the NP on the weekend.
It was certainly quiet and if you like star gazing there is not might light to interfere with that.
One downside was the wind. The wind was horrendous for about half of my stay (I was there for 14 days). I really do mean horrendous, like gusts up to 60 MPH and sustained around 20-30. It is generally accepted that 60 MPH can blow over a tractor trailer or Class A motorhome while moving and hot broadside with the wind. So you can imagine how I felt in a Class A. Speaking to one of the staff, they said like clockwork, around noon, the wind does pickup. So might want to plan around that.
Overall a nice addition to the TT collection in an area there were no CGs. It's not a new CG just new to TT. not sure I will be back because I am not a fan of wind and the wind really was that bad.

This park was just added as a Thousand Trails resort, so I didn't have to pay to stay here. I arrived on May 1st at the beginning of the season. Terry and Christie were there to meet me, and boy were they helpful. The spots are spacious with room to spread out, the hook-ups are out of the way behind your RV so no staring at your neighbor's poop hose while BBQing. The spots are a little off level but with little effort i was able to get level. This park is located in an awesome place if nature is your type of recreation. There is a small fishing pond on site for those under twelve to enjoy, but don't worry Blue Mesa Reservoir and many other lakes and streams are in the immediate area if you are the angler type. If off-roading is your thing there are hundreds of miles of OHV and Jeep trails in the area. There are many pull outs along the road in the area to observe nature as well. Just want to stay at the park they have you covered. There are pickle ball courts, Put-Put golf, basketball, and not one but 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. There is a large lodge for gathering and a store to pick up any needed supplies. There is a laundry facility on site that takes quarters. 2 bucks to wash 1.50 to dry. The Wi-Fi at the park is adequate but they are working to improve. There are stores in Gunni that can take care of your shopping needs as well as many restaurants to feed the hungry masses. All in all, I would recommend the trip to Blue Mesa Recreational Resort. I look forward to the improvements that Thousand trails have in store to make this a top tier resort in their portfolio.

We spent almost 2 weeks at the Blue Mesa recreational ranch using our RPI membership, July 6 to July 19th. Each site had FHU and a concrete patio with a picnic table. Some sites had fire rings but not all and not many sites with 50 amp power but we didn't mind. It did get warm during the day but there's no humidity and it cooled off wonderfully at night so running one AC unit was plenty.
We work full-time and because of that need internet access and having read the reviews of this park we knew there was no cell signal and the WiFi was not great. We installed a WiFi Ranger booster before we stayed here and it did help, we got about 4 MBPS until about 2 or so in the afternoon and then it dropped to 2 MBPS. We also have a weboost for cell signal and it didn't help.
Other than that it's a nice place, the laundry was clean and I never had any trouble getting machines. $2.00 for wash and $1.50 for dry.
Our favorite part of staying here was it is surrounded by great places to visit. We were able to spend a day at The Black Canyon of Gunnison NP, another day in the Gunnison NF and there are endless 4x4 trails that we took our Jeep on including the Cumberland Pass and you are in the middle of the Curecanti National Recreation Area. We also hiked part of the trail along the Continental Divide. You are also directly across the highway from the Blue Mesa Reservoir which is the largest body of water in Colorado.
Overall we thought it was great stay!
