Overview of Blodgett Campground
Bear activity has been increasing. For this reason a food storage order is in effect at all developed campgrounds on the Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District, and the Piney Guard Station, Tigiwon Lodge, Mount of the Holy Cross Overlook, Homestake Road FSR 703, and Nolan Creek Road. This order requires all food and refuse to be stored in hard-sided vehicles, approved bear-resistant containers, or suspended at least 10 feet clear of the ground at all points and four feet horizontally from any supporting tree or pole.

Overall Rating
We intended to camp elsewhere but ran into road closures. This place was a great fallback. Plenty of sites that fit our medium sized van. Fire rings but no tables. Couldn't find the bathroom but we didn't look very hard. Dipped to the 30s at night

Of the choices to disperse camp along hwy 24 near the Vail area, this is the place! There are 5 spots along a loop off the left of Homestead Road after you drive in. 3 of them offer pretty good views of the valley to the SW and of the mountains on either side. OHV folks had their own location deeper down the road where they were launch... more
Of the choices to disperse camp along hwy 24 near the Vail area, this is the place! There are 5 spots along a loop off the left of Homestead Road after you drive in. 3 of them offer pretty good views of the valley to the SW and of the mountains on either side. OHV folks had their own location deeper down the road where they were launching out of and where very respectable. There are multiple other camping locations down Homestead Road, if you want to go in deeper, and possibly be closer to the water.

Beautiful drive into the campground! There’s about five sites. None have tree cover. It stayed hot well into the evening but stayed quite cool well through the morning due to being in the shadow of the mountain. Beautiful drive into the campground! There’s about five sites. None have tree cover. It stayed hot well into the evening but stayed quite cool well through the morning due to being in the shadow of the mountain.
Beautiful views and if you walk down the road in the evening you may spot a family of beavers!
Further down the road, not signed is another dispersed campground with lots of spots but tougher to get into.
You can hear the road a bit.

Small Campsite overlooking HomeStake Creek. Only five or so spots. No amenities.
Creek is just a short walk away. Caught many brook trout. Lovely views.
