Fire bit with grill was nice. Large picnic table and we were near enough to the potty to let the kids go on their own. Wooded area and spacious sites. We had more than enough room for our travel trailer and two vehicles. The park was fun to walk around with Civil War history to see. Loved the boardwalk along the river at sunset.

It was a quick in and out for us so I didn't get much time to explore. Easy in and out of the park with a supermarket close by for last minute things. Very wooded so reception was so-so. Plenty of trails and history. I couldn't find a bathroom close to the site so if you are not self contained that might be a problem.

Heavily wooded between our site and the neighboring site, creating a very private feel. It was unlevel and took some work to get the camper situated. We never were able to get cinoletelt level, but it worked out. We did not use the bath houses, but they are located quite a long distance from the rv sites. The trails are wonderful! I do agree with the previous reviewer regarding the park map. It could definitely be more informative, but it was enough to keep us on track. We spent many hours hiking and enjoying the sites. The boardwalk area is beautiful! Cell signal was spotty and tree coverage was too dense for starlink. Overall, it's a great place if you love to be in nature. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

As a full/times I have stayed in state parks throughout the US. This by far is the worst.
Sites assigned at entry; you need to beg to be moved if there are available sites.
Showers are VERY basic and a 1+mi walk from
RV sites.
The park touts 25 mi of trails, but they don’t provide a trail map. AllTrails doesn’t have an accurate map. Trailheads are distant from RV sites.
Road biking basically impossible, gravel roads turn to deep sand and/or potholed and wash boarded.
Map provided at check isn’t detailed enough to show trails or how to get to historical sites. It doesn’t show camp sites. They’re higgly-piggly and not well signed. Date on map is 2013.
2 bars 5G on Verizon and full array of OTA tv.
Cell Tour is basically all advertising , not informative on history or natural features.

Great place to stay!!! Staff is super friendly and helpful Sites are not level but not to bad. My site was only 3" off. No bathhouse that I could find but had full hookups at site. T-mobile service is 5g but not reliable. Starlink 103 MB. We were in site 4. No frills but relaxing and fun.

Many of the sites are not very level, though ours was fine for our trailer. But a larger rig would have some trouble in site 15. Starlink was great, full hook ups, though the connections were not always conveniently situated. Lots of civil war history in this park and lots of great hiking trails. Decent sized sites and ours felt fairly private, the sites would feel much more private in the summer when the trees have leaves. We enjoyed this park alot.

We visited the USS Arizona Park (loved the submarine tour on the USS Drum!) and Fairhope, a beautiful town with great restaurants. Also the sites are far apart, have full hookups, and are all pull through. But they are not generally level. We had to work for 1/2 hour to find a spot on our site and level our trailer. There isn't a bathhouse in the RV camping area, only in the tent camping area more than a mile away. It is a long way to the Civil War site and the river. Maybe our feelings would have been different if the weather had been nicer. It was rather gloomy while we were there. We had minimal interaction with the staff. We had cell service there with occasional breaks in service.

We have a 40 foot motorhome and our first site was so un-level that our front tires were at least 12 inches off the ground. We carry an extra step for places that we may need it- but...we needed more that one extra step! Getting in and out of the motorhome was quite a feat...and even the dog was hesitant (he is a 70 pound mix breed...and good at jumping). Our slides would not seal completely - and we were worried that something would break. The next day we asked for a different site. The park assigns you a site- you are not able to look at a map and pick your own site as you can at most State Parks. Our second site was level...and we were very thankful...but the site itself was not someplace that you wanted to be, It is a mix of stone and dirt- weeds. No view of anything...facing a wall of shrubs/weeds. It seems that there is some upgrades going on in the park itself- but not the campground. We did not see any "clean up" of sites. The area is nice and the park is beautiful...but the campground was not very nice looking. I am sure there are some really nice sites- but it is the luck of the draw with your assigned site.
We did not use the bathrooms or showers so do not know how they were,
The staff that we interacted with were very friendly.

This was annoying for us because we have a 19 foot A-frame with no toilet. I realize most people have bathrooms in their RVs so this is a non-issue for them. The sites are also poorly kept. The ridges in the road to and from our site were easily 8” deep due to erosion. There was also trash in our fire ring. The pit toilets that actually were in the RV area were disturbing disgusting. I’ve used a bunch of pit toilets before with no issue. This one was particularly heinous and essentially unusable. I never saw a camp host and was not given a map even after asking the front gate keepers for one. Overall its an affordable place to stay while traveling (it’s near the interstate), to make day trips to the beach, or to explore the civil war history, but it could really benefit from some upkeep.

So I backed in with the power pedestal 10’ off the back of the rig on the passenger side. I had a 60’ sewer hose run. So like others comments bring plenty of leveling blocks and I would add extra power, water and sewer hose. All of that said after getting setup we enjoyed our stay at the park. Lots of history and hiking.
