“Grassy Field Camping in Hoosier National Forest”
Reviewed Jun 03, 2016
Blackwell Horse Camp is unlike most National Forests sites because its a huge rolling field. Theres a figure-8 road that loops across the grounds with 5 vault toilets spread through-out.
This campground is geared towards horseback riding. It has a few corrals and a riding trail. But, don't let that discourage you - during our stay there were tent campers and RV campers simply enjoying the solitude. All sizes of RVs could fit here. A huge Class A might have to drive around to find level land, but its out there.
The park has a large pavilion perfect for a group pot-luck.
Despite the lack of trees, we had lots of privacy. Our nearest neighbor was over 100 yards away.
This boondocking site was great. Our biggest complaint is that we were in central Indiana.
