We enjoyed the surrounding area, hikes, views, the lake, the visitors center, Foxfire Museum (not to be missed) and a yummy lunch at the Rusty Bike Cafe in town

We got site 33 & our friends got 31. We have a 15 ft & pretty dicey to back into site . Our friends have a 28ft and he backed into with 2 tries. To get to the park & campground had narrow winding roads. The sites are pretty close together but staggering length so doesn't seem like a parking lot. Clean bathrooms. We enjoyed our stay

Bath house is clean with warm water and heater in the fall/winter. We were the for Thanksgiving. Site 36 is huge once you get in it. I would stay again and recommend if you’re comfortable with your equipment (not great for newbies, probably). We have a 29 foot travel trailer and an F250. We did see full size RVs and 5th wheels so large rigs can get there but I wouldn’t want to.

Beautiful location. The bathhouse was spotless. Check in was so easy and the ranger was most helpful. They even sold firewood there. We caught the beautiful fall colors. Hiking trails are easy access from the campsite

We've stayed here three times and have decided it'll be our go to for quick trips from our home in Atlanta, especially in summer. At 3500 ft elevation, the summer humidity and bugs are a fraction of what they are down lower, and there's always a cool breeze. Great hiking trails, although more poison ivy than I'd like even in late summer, so be aware and carry Tecnu in your camp kit if you're allergic.
Do make reservations - you can usually do it pretty last minute, but in fall and spring weekends are often fully booked. We drive a truck camper and it's a cinch to get in and out of here, but as others have mentioned it's tougher for big RV's or long trailers/5ths. The sites are not simple to back in to. That said, for small travelers like us, the hook ups, free hot showers (cleaned twice daily), spectacular views, amazing sunrises AND sunsets from our campsite, and chill vibe of the other campers have us returning to this spot again and again. The walk-in tent sites are appealing for those tent camping. Not a long walk, but nice, quiet, distanced spots.
Clayton is a great town with everything you need including two grocery stores and a HUGE Ace Hardware, plus some great restaurants. Enjoy.

It is a beautiful area. Close to Clayton, GA which is a cute town and Tallulah Gorge. If you have a large camper I would skip this place. The best site is 15. Ada-hi Falls is basically a trickle and would go to the Gorge instead. Grapes and Beans cafe in Clayton has good food.

Our site was listed as 20 ft but both trailer and truck fit (although just a few inches to spare). The sites are narrow and on top of each other so sadly there is no privacy. Lack of privacy exacerbated by sites on our side facing uphill so straight into wall and neighbors site. Also due to closeness, you’ll get smoked out by people who don’t use dry kiln wood and flashed by inconsiderate people who leave their car lights on. There were a few sites that looked tolerable so plan in advance and try to grab those. We’d come back if we could get a better site. The park is truly great. Bathrooms clean and trails were fun. And I cannot believe I’m typing this but tmobile coverage and speeds were fantastic.

Water, electricity, basic cable tv hookup, and a dump station. Small store in case you need ice or forgot something. 30ft rig with truck (about 55ft total) would be about the max for maneuvering around the campground. Road going up the mountain is typical switch backs and steep. AT&T data is pretty slow but will work. Lots of waterfalls in the area as well as things to see and do. Town of Clayton Ga is pretty neat. If you plan on going on long hikes alone, bring bear spray. Great place to camp.

The road into the campground itself is questionable -- there are major blindspots coming up/going down the mountain. The least they could do it put up some mirrors for safety! We were very surprised to see that there were none. The road once INSIDE the campground was pretty crazy. To get to our site we had to drive on an EXTREMELY narrow road on the side of the cliff. There was a guard rail, but it was probably one of the sketchiest roads we've ever driven on (we've been fulltiming for 2 years).
Okay, so after "the drive", we finally make it to our site, which was rated for up to 40 feet. We are 33 feet. Had our neighbors in the spot adjacent to us already been parked, we would NOT have been able to maneuver and park our rig into this spot due to the angles. Thankfully, they had not arrived yet! But the park should take such things into consideration when they give a maximum length for the spot.
There are a FEW (not many!!) spots that would have been ideal for bigger rigs. Site 39 had a great view and we enjoyed it a lot, but as mentioned, can't really recommend it to anyone with a larger rig (unless you can guarantee the adjacent site is empty when you arrive!).
This was a lot of blah blah blah to say... pretty park, stressful drive. If you're under 25 feet, this park is perfect for you! If you're over 25 feet, choose your site carefully and drive carefully, or find a different park.

We have enjoyed camping in the Blue Ridge Mnts and found this place to try thinking high elevation views would be amazing. Luckily we were at nearby Tallulah Falls State Park and had a feeling a recon of the campground would be wise based on comments. I knew from the comments it would be a challenge but I consider myself a good driver. Thank god for the little voice. The road up is sketchy being a narrow two lane road and the downhill traffic not going slow or concerned about blind curves and campers coming up. Park road is barely trailer wide with drop off shoulders and no room to swing trailers. Over 30’ stay away. The site we booked looked a lot smaller than it claimed to be even if you could swing it in. I don’t know why they let over 30’ book here but maybe a few at the entrance.

OK, so we saw some reviews outlining issues for accessing Black Rock Mountain Park so we decided to do a drive-by and see for ourselves without our rig. Let me start by saying we saw similar reviews for accessing Fort Mountain State Park. We took a chance an made it no problem. As for Black Rock Mountain, we were staying close by and took the trip up . The road up was narrow and twisty but nothing we couldn't handle. It would be tight if there were passing rigs given the lack of a shoulder and narrow curves (1.5 lanes in some places), but overall it was something I would have done. Once in the park, all bets were off. The park roads were pretty tight and there was no way I was getting a 37 ft trailer in anything. With that said, there was a 40-something ft class A nestled neatly in a site. Bravo to you sir, you are a better driver than I am. The park and views were gorgeous and the park looks like it would be worth every penny. Could we do it? Probably. Did I want the stress? No thank you,
