Very difficult to find national forest campgrounds open in the winter. Bitterbrush has beautiful views up the valley to the snow-capped peaks. Campground is along a creek, the vault toilets were open and reasonably clean. There is no water available in the off-season but on the plus side it was free. :-) About 12 mi west of Bishop ... more

Came to Bitterbrush after a failed attempt at Pleasure Valley Campground. The location and views are great. Sites are mostly level. Some will fit bigger RVs, but I would not take anything larger than 35ft. Good location to do some local sightseeing. No water for RVs. Will need to fill up in town.
