East Hershey WMA Dispersed Camping

Nice little spot with lake view. There were multiple anglers in the lot when we pulled in on Friday of Labor Day weekend. All super friendly. Some stayed very late into the evening. The lot is very small - that would be the only drawback and if highway noise is a deal breaker this is not the place for you lol. Probably best for van or smaller RV or Travel Trailer, we’re 21 ft plus truck. It was reassuring to see a sign that said you can camp for 3 days.

You do have to drive down a well maintained dirt road and you end up actually right beside the highway. When we first pulled up a car was parked there with people inside doing something sketchy - but they left. Unsettled us a little for the rest of the night. It’s peaceful on a lake, we did some fishing and took pictures. It was easy to get to and did the job.

Stayed in late April 2019. Traveling west on I-80 I needed a one night stopover. I stopped in North Platte at the visitor center and they pointed me to this free campsite at a fishing access spot (per my request). This is a FREE stay allowed for 3 nights out of 6. No amenities. The road leading in was quite muddy due to recent rains so it was a little dicey in my 26 foot Class C RV, but we made it without getting stuck. There was one large spot here that could fit most any rig although getting turned around might be a challenge if you're more than 30-35 feet. There were several potential smaller spots but they were very muddy at this time of year. The site was clean and right on a small fishing lake. I was the only one there and no one drove by during the night. The only downside was that this is literally right next to I-80. It was quiet enough at night when the truck traffic died down.
