“Typical Superior National Forest campground”

This campground is typical of other Superior National Forest campgrounds. Sites have a picnic table and fire ring/grill, and no electricity. There's a water pump on the main road to the second loop and boat launch, though I did not try it. Some of the campsites are on the lake, with a little clearing where you can walk to the lake. It's a bit of a drive on a dirt road to get here, and the road is at points not in great shape, though any passenger car should have no problem. I was sad to see so much logging en route to the campground, and the loggers left branches and debris everywhere, all over the road.
You can make reservations online up to a certain point before-hand, at which point it converts to walk-up registration. If you arrive without a reservation, as I did, you drive around and look for the "reserved" signs to see what dates the site is booked, and make sure there isn't a same-day payment receipt from someone else. You can then pay $15 cash or check (no credit cards accepted for in-person payments) using a payment envelope. I did not see a campground host.
I arrived on a Sunday around 3pm and only a couple sites had people in them. The campground was quiet. A lot of people really love this place, but I didn't see any specific or unique appeal at the campground itself. The lake it is on, however, is quite large and would be fun to navigate by boat or canoe. I can imagine it's popular with anglers.
Cell coverage as of June 2019:
Verizon (iPhone): No service.
AT&T (Hotspot): 2 bars LTE, 71ms ping, 16mbps down, 500kbps (but generally worked fine for browsing and streaming videos)
T-Mobile (Android, Project Fi): Unreliable, sometimes got a bar of HSPAP/HSPA, managed to get a speed test at 139ms, 0.15mbps down, 0.08mbps up after multiple attempts.

Big sites, lots of space between sites. Only complaint is no campground host on site.
