This park was fine for a night on our way to Summer Lake but not really worth $42. The gravel site was rutted to the point where we had to get out leveling blocks and it is right next to highway 97 so there is lots of traffic noise. The main attraction seems to be ATV trails that are accessible right from the park and judging by the number of high-end ATVs and dirt bikes we saw in the park, they must be great. Since we do trails on foot, it wasn't that fun for us and we would rather be able to sleep at night.

After the initial COVID debacle of campgrounds closing, we had the not so brilliant idea of finding permanent housing near Bend. Big Pines had monthly availability thanks to our small rig as summer months are very popular for RVers in the area. The owners are very friendly and keep the park well maintained and clean. Behind the park is forest and miles of dirt roads to walk or ride. Dollar General is about a mile north and Gilchrist has a small market for supplies. It's a very quiet area at and road noise is minimal. The stars are spectacular on moonless nights. The park is situated between Crater Lake and Bend if you only want to stay in one spot to explore the area.
We would have stayed longer but things fell through for our home search and it seemed it was just time to move on after wildfiregeddon became a problem.
We will stay here again when we're in the area.

There are only 4 tent sites available. All on flat ground and big areas with a picnic table. There are no fires allowed due to the danger of wildfire. There are a lot of trails on what seems like logging land that you can walk, ride mountain bikes, and take the dog for long walks. The wifi was pretty bad so we used our cellular hotspot (Verizon) with no problems. It was just off of the road, but road noise wasn't a huge issue. The park had full hook-ups and cable tv.

Our truck broke down ! Stranded we needed help during the busy travel season.. We were towed to Big Pines RV Park. For the past ten (10) days we’ve been in our Airstream while the truck underwent repairs in Bend.
Much to our surprise & delight this RV parked turned out to be a GEM! Bruce & Donna host & run this park extremely well and we lacked for nothing. All level pull through sites, most with full hookup. Clean restroom showers etc. We will stay here again whenever we are in this ares. I don’t review nor recommend often but this one is definitely a keeper. Stay here & I guarantee you’ll want to come back. Thanks again to Donna & Bruce for all of the extra effort on our behalf. Brad Anderson 2017 Classic Airstream 30’. June 5, 2020

Pleasant place to stay and have time to visit Crater Lake NP and Newberry Volcanic Monument.
Come well stocked, closet grocery store is 30 minutes away.
This park is off Hwy 97 so you do get some highway noise, but unlike many of the RV parks between Bend and Klamath Falls, this is set a little further back off the highway. Also compared to other parks in the same area this is a nicer setting with sites in the trees, not a parking lot or grassy field.
Not a lot to do in the park, but a good location for exploring south / central OR.

Overall, this was a great place to stay! I would give it a 5 star rating for RV parks, but a 4 for overall, because you just can't compete with boondocking in the middle of forest! Every one I talked to that worked here was SUPER friendly, from calling to make the reservation to checking and just running into them around the camp. I felt very welcomed here!
Access was very simple. It is right on hwy 97.
Location is close to Bend and Crater Lake. I was just using it to get clean and do laundry between boondocking spots, so it worked great for that!
Cleanliness was above and beyond. The laundry room was spotless as were the shower houses.
Site quality was very good, especially for a RV park. Each site had big pines between them, grass, a picnic table and a fire pit. While they are close together, it didn't seem that bad. This is not just another parking lot RV park.
Noise within the park was fine, but with the windows open you could hear the traffic on hwy 97, and I had one of the spots farthest away from the highway. They are doing a lot of work adding sites onto the park, so during the day there are some construction noises, but nothing that horrendous. It should be done summer of 2018.
