“Dry camping, free. Vaulted toilets in official camping areas.”
Ok, the pin on the map is for Cooper Lake. It is tent camping only. The lake has many private houses along it. Kayaking and boating are the thing here. This is for the pinned location only. The below information is for the campground North and west of Lincoln. Ask anyone in town how to get to it. It's a nice dirt road. Could easily hold a 40 footer. Until after the trail head.
This complex has too many places to camp to mention. It's all dry off-grid camping save for the first forest service area. There is some Verizon cell service there. After that, you'd better be high atop a ridge to get service. The streams are full of fish, nearly too full. Read the book on fishing this area. It's a great place to hike. Plenty of trails. The reservoir is devoid of fish. The only exception being the Mountain Axelotl. It's big enough to kayak or float tube and is very refreshing in the hot afternoon sun. Plenty of places to dry camp here. Firewood is plentiful. Moose, elk, deer, fox, coyote, badgers, hawks, eagles, yo name it. It can be found in this complex. Very pristine and breathtakingly beautiful. Pure Montana. Oh, Huckleberry pass up there got its name for a reason.
MTliving would stay here again
