I drove my 2WD GMC Sierra up there and despite the beautiful views I was regretting the abuse I put her through. There are several stops along the way, but honestly I am not even sure that I’d camp at the top nor along the way. Just my impression and anyone else can debunk what I’m saying...but I kinda get the impression this is a trail that attracts a lot of locals who like to party and bring their girlfriends up there for some romance. You could have a totally peaceful experience, but for the drive there you’d probably do so much better enjoying some of the dispersed camping we have in Mount Laguna (Kitchen Creek and Pine Creek Roads). I think you’d see more like minded individuals there too.
