Such a wonderful campground. We stayed in October with the leaves changing and it was beautiful. No electric. No cell service whatsoever! Trout fishing in the river. Very secluded and lots of space between sites. Hiking trail around the campground was also beautiful.

“Rustic, hidden gem”

This is a hidden gem, IMHO, tucked way the heck up a long, winding road in the middle of Nowhere, WV. It’s located in -- you guessed it -- a big bend in the river (one of the numerous upstream forks of the Potomac). The river, making its slow oxbows, has almost cut off the little knob in the middle where the campground is located. In fact, they say that you can put in your tube on one side of the narrow isthmus that connects to the “mainland“, float around the campground for an hour, then walk across the neck and do it again. The campground loops up the hill, sandwiched between two mountains. You can be down by the river, or up on the hilltop. No hookups, but firewood and hot showers. The sites are paved/graveled and I had no trouble backing my 16’ trailer in. Good separation. Manager is friendly. You can forget about Internet or cell phones – it’s hard to get a radio station! – and you’d best gas up before you head on in. But it’s a great little getaway.
