Great spots. Can be noisy with lots of tent camping ⛺️ and latency late night arrivals. Amazing lake access, with shoreline camping based on 1st come 1st serve. We got Verizon service and it was between 2-3 bars. Perfect spot to set up camp and enjoy the lake.

The signs at Bermuda Flats actually divert campers to the North and South Horse Pasture areas. However, there’s no pasture, corrals or horse accommodations. That’s cool with us! This area had about two dozen large RVs scattered about a 2 mile stretch of sandy, well worn beach. There’s a fair amount of micro trash littering the beach which doesn’t appear to get any love from year to year.
You may wish to walk the road to the beach to make sure your vehicle can make it through the deep sand and ruts.
Rates must have just gone up in October 2019 to $8 per 24 hours with the Tonto Pass which you’ll need to drive about 10 miles north or south to purchase. There’s no senior discount anymore.
There’s abundant bird life — grebes, herons, waterfowl, even bald eagles. Mountain bikers can roll for about a 5 mile loop on sandy access roads along the beach before running out of road.
Don’t miss the Tonto National Monument about ten miles south. Very cool cliff dwellings and history.
The Apache Trail which goes to Tortilla Flats is currently closed because of flood damage from September 2019.
This area appears to be closed from November 15 to February 15 for nesting birds. You’ll want to check with the Forest Service office in Roosevelt before counting on this site.
We saw and heard only one boat in three days here. It’s most likely a zoo here during the hot desert months!

It was very quiet, with few people; closest people were about a quarter mile away. Apart from a random car driving up next to my rig at 3am and turning around, it was perfect.

Great place to enjoy shoreline camping. Easy to get to camping area with beautiful sunsets. Keep in mind; the closer to the summer the more crowded it is at the lake.

This is dispersed camping but it's not free. It is currently the northern most open location on Lake Roosevelt. You must use a Tonto "scratch & sniff" daily permit --costs $6 (light blue) or $3 for seniors (maroon) purchased at local businesses -- although we never saw anyone come around to check. There is a camp host site near the entrance (by the porta-john trailer and trash dumpsters) but there was no camp host on site.
Don't expect to be alone! We met some friends there and had a little spit to ourselves for the first night. The road splits near the entrance with the vast majority of campers going to the right (south). There were people to the left (north), but not as many. Lots of folks are camped on the beach with their fishing and/or ski boats pulled up on the beach at their location. Most spots will require some leveling. We were there March 23rd & 24th. Daytime temps in the mid 80's. Nights got down to mid 40's. Apparently just about the right temperature range for healthy mosquitoes although the breeze kept them in check.
The northern end is a bit closer to the highway, but there is very little highway traffic after sundown and traffic noise was never a problem.
I had 2 bars on both Verizon and AT&T and could boost my Verizon to 4 bars with the amplifier and antenna.

Dump site opposite nearby Cholla campground has been closed for some time. Plan to dump and get water in Phoenix or Payson before you arrive.
