Came here to avoid the storm approaching north. Wise decision. The road coming in was pretty tore up, but not so bad. Once you entered the park, the roads were well paved and taken care of. I met another box truck camper, so we parked close to the river. It was warm when I got here and cold when I left. No fault of the park! As the previous commenter said, the spaces are plenty and level. I have a 14' box truck and it fit perfectly. Any bigger and I feel you would lose the fire ring area. A barge cruises past once or twice a day and it just sounds like a distant train. It has restrooms, but I didn't use them and it has potable water in the form of fountains. The park host is a couple that RVs here and they were super nice. I took some night photos (not attached) and let me tell you, it is dark! One of the darkest places I have been. Once everybody went to bed, no lights at all. It was amazing. It is way out in the sticks, so cell/data coverage is sketchy. T-Mobile, I was told was the best and mine sucked. LOL
The price (free) is great and I would definitely come back.

“Comfortable free river camping”

There are two camping loops here, each with a handful of spots. Probably more geared to tent campers but we were more than comfortable in our 24-ft RV and the sites are fairly level. You probably wouldn’t want to try anything over 27 or 30 feet or more here. It’s not really geared for that. But the road in and the loop are all paved. It had been raining a lot before we got here, so one loop was under water. A local lady said this was the worst rain/flooding in the area since the late 70s though. This is also a public day use boat launch so it could be crowded during the spring/summer season. They don’t have any hookups but there are clean bathrooms with flushing toilets, and potable water in the middle of the loop we camped in. AT&T cell signal was pretty weak, but you could walk around and find a good signal to make calls. We were able to get speeds of around 2-3 mbps down and up WITH a cheap $30 MIMO antenna plugged into our hotspot.
