“Nice Spot But Didn’t Stay”

We arrived at almost 9 pm and it was very full of 18 wheelers. We didn’t want to take the last spot from a trucker, so we kept moving. There is a new truck stop (an Exxon, maybe?) that was just a couple miles further down 35 they still had plenty of room.

This is a Texas Safety Rest Area. The restrooms are clean and there is some vending machines in the main building. Storm shelters are available in the buildings in case of severe weather. I did not see any showers, so restrooms only.
I parked on the truck/rv side of the parking lot because I had my small trailer. At 10 PM on a week night, the large parking area was almost completely full with 18 wheelers. I found a spot along the edge of the parking lot near the picnic areas.
It is going to be noisy if you are on the truck side, but it was not too bad (there is road noise from the highway as well) - more like constant white noise. I only heard a few trucks leaving through the night. There was actually a pleasant breeze even though it had been a very hot August day, so I slept reasonably well.
Definitely not my first choice, but this stop allowed me a 3-hour head start on a 10-hour long drive, so worth it. And it was free!
Lee Hughes would stay here again
