Several creeks flowing through the park with trails along side. Their is a really good restaurant right down from the park office. We have also stayed in the Armadillo loop in the northern part of the park. However, this part of OK is in a dead zone as far as cell service. With my prepaid ATT plan, I could not get any phone service, not text, not voice, not data. I am one whose phone is attached to their ear, but my life is too connected to go 4 days with no contact with the outside world.

That campground loop is a little more crowded than we prefer, but it was obviously a popular weekend. Awesome hikes right from the campground. We will be back.

We stayed in the Armadillo section. It is accessible to the largers Rv's and the smaller ones. Full hookups and it is close to the main lake road. Shower house was nice and always clean. The evenings were peaceful after the lake traffic died down. Close to town with a tone of stuff for the kids to do.

We stayed at Beavers Bend State park in the Armadillo Loop site 7. The loop is nice with fairly level concrete pads (some with sewer), however, I would not choose site 7 or any other site that backs up to the main road leading to the marina. It is a high traffic area with cars and trucks passing by non stop. If you can reserve one of the sites toward the back 20, 21 etc. they are much quieter with better views. The other issue with this loop is the dump station. It has a steep ramp to get in/out and you can see where many a rig has left gashes in the asphalt and probably lost a few stabilizers along the way. I would definitely stay here again although at a different part of the loop.

There wasn’t room for my truck in the slot and had to park between some trees. The spots are tight for slide outs and awnings. It is very quiet and shaded which is good. We were able to let the kids run around and play or ride bikes. There is plenty to do in the park we just didn’t have the time to do a lot of it. If you have something bigger than a 30’ it will be extremely tight in the cypress loop. One street over is the acorn camp and there is more room and it’s tight in the river. We will try for that camp next.

Firstly... a huge thank you to the Oklahoma State Parks for staying open during the coronavirus pandemic!
Water and electric services have been stripped out of the Buckeye campground in preparation for renovations, so it is being treated as an overflow area. A comfort station with flush toilets, showers and laundry facilities was close by. This worked out well for me since my pop-up has no hook-ups but can be a little too big for crowded tent areas. It also saved a few bucks ($16 per night), while the price for reservable sites fluctuates based on demand.
There were some construction and paving projects on the go, so the noise was pretty steady during the day.
Lots to do in the Broken Bow and Hochatown areas, but it is a little hard to plan without cell access.

Next time I'd opt for the Acorn loop, but we enjoyed our stay. Sites in Cypress are pretty close together, but nobody was violating quiet hours so no worries. Great swimming beach- the water is cold but great. Nice hiking trails, and plenty of grocery & beverage stores nearby.
