“This Is A Small Free Campground Below The Clark Canyon Dam Right On The Beaverhead River.”

Reviewed 7/30/2020

Nightly rate: FREE!
Overall Rating

This small campground has 3 campsites with picnic tables and fire pits that are big enough for decent sized trailers or RVs. The dirt road going down to it is short but steep and a little bumpy. There's a 14 day stay limit.

Lots of people put their boats in here so expect a lot of people driving in and out, most people park along the large turn around area near the dam.

There is a vault toilet and even a few trash cans. A few people were camping here a couple of days out of the week but for the most part, it was empty. There's no fresh water here but you can get some up at the Beaverhead Campground or the Lewis & Clark Campground.

There's a nature trail that starts here as well which makes it a great place to camp if you like exploring and fly fishing.

Pool wasn't filled due to COVID scare, but city center only 3 miles on the freeway, and Clark Canyon Reserve well worth the 30 minute drive! Absolutely gorgeous!
Pretty little river running along side the campground. Other campers had gone tubing from the campground into town!
