Boondocking at it's finest, it's just a overlook of the lake and the views were endless. Pulled in after driving 200 miles and found perfect spot, plenty of room and it's a first come first serve. You do get 4g and great fishing.

We got a great site overlooking the reservoir with a table and shelter. Outhouses on site. Close to highway so there is noise. Reservoir shoreline can be muddy affecting where you can access the water. Great ATT cell service.

Very clean, road was easy to find and drive down.

Most campsites have a pavilion, picnic table, and fire ring…however…instead of being occupied by RV’s, boat campers, or tents, three sites are occupied by one or two people just sitting at each pavilion with picnic table and fire ring. Meanwhile, we see several large RV’s driving around looking for a spot and are coming up empty. Not really sure how that could be resolved other than to place a campsite number sign at each spot.

Absolutely beautiful place. My son even got his paddleboard out and enjoy the lake for a little while. It was hard to believe this place is actually free. We wish we had more time we would’ve stayed here a couple days.

This is a great location just off I-15. Even though it's next to the interstate, the highway noise was not bad. There are quite a few sites that big rigs will fit in. It did get busy while we were there. We did notice some RV's pulling in after dark having a hard time getting a site. There is a dump station at the RV park across the lake and if you talk to the park host you should be able to get fresh water too. This is also the site of Lewis and Clark's Camp Fortunate. Of course, it's under water now! But there's some good historical info at an info center across the lake by the RV park.

Patio cover, large cement slab, Clean picnic table, large metal fire pit with a cooking grate, level site and a great view of the reservoir... it is hard to believe that this Campground is free. Earlier this summer we stayed at a Campground not even nearly this nice for over $30 per night. We will definitely be back to this site.

There are a few developed sites, but generally lots of space and parking. The lake was clean (but cold!) while we were here. Not a lot of boat traffic, though it definitely picked up over the weekend.
There are vault toilets and hand-pump water pumps available. The water we pumped was yellow. We didn't try drinking it.
The campground was generally very quiet (the Interstate didn't bother us at all). Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am.
There's a non-boondocking campground about 1 mile over the dam where you can dump for $10. They don't have potable water at the dump, but for an extra $5 the host there let us fill our water at an empty campsite. I wouldn't count on being able to get water there, though. About 11 miles north in Dillon there is a Cenex gas station that has a dump, potable water (if you bring your own hose), and propane.
If you're considering staying for more than an overnight, I might recommend going to one of the many other boondocking locations around the reservoir. Don't get me wrong -- Beaverhead is beautiful and I'd definitely come back here, but we drove around all the camping locations around the lake and the other ones (like Homecoming Beach and Horse Prairie) were very beautiful. I felt like we'd be able to get our nearly 41'-5r into Homecoming Beach or Horse Prairie pretty easily.
Regardless of which site you stay at around the lake, you should definitely plan to drive all the way around the lake. It is a beautiful drive that gives you a lot of different views and vistas!

Nice shade pavilion and fire ring. Some folks swam at the boat launch.
There’s a campground host, but he just drove around the loops once. Didn’t interact.
Close to Dillon for groceries/fuel.
Good cell service on Verizon & ATT. There is traffic noise from I-15, but when fans were on, not as noticeable.
Will come back when we can stay longer.
