This is a camp operated by a utility group. The spaces are large and heavily treed on the lake. Dry camping. Bathrooms are adequate by old. NO connectivity in the camp sites, but if you go to the end of the camp area to the picnic and boat launch (closed) area we got 4G Tmobile and ATT. The roads through the campground are narrow. This is a camp operated by a utility group. The spaces are large and heavily treed on the lake. Dry camping. Bathrooms are adequate by old. NO connectivity in the camp sites, but if you go to the end of the camp area to the picnic and boat launch (closed) area we got 4G Tmobile and ATT. The roads through the campground are narrow. Recommend no larger than 35 feet. There were many people with boats and kayaks.

We stayed at this campground late June 2023 on a Monday-Wednesday. There were very few other campers in our "A" area. All the campsites in the "A" group had thin woodsy areas separating them from each other. The privacy was nice. We had quick access to Yale reservoir and Beaver Bay Trail. We stayed at this campground late June 2023 on a Monday-Wednesday. There were very few other campers in our "A" area. All the campsites in the "A" group had thin woodsy areas separating them from each other. The privacy was nice. We had quick access to Yale reservoir and Beaver Bay Trail. The beach was composed of pebbles & rocks, but there were areas where we could set up a lawn chair to comfortably sit by the water. As others have mentioned, the trail is not maintained & gets pretty muddy & rugged at spots, but it was a decent leg-stretcher. The restrooms & showers were clean, although quite old. There are no hook-ups available but there are standpipes & water fountains available.

Beautiful campground on the shores of Yale Reservoir. If you tire of the fishing and other water recreation to be had here, the south slopes of Mount St Helens (including Ape Cave) are only a 20-25 minute drive away. Beautiful campground on the shores of Yale Reservoir. If you tire of the fishing and other water recreation to be had here, the south slopes of Mount St Helens (including Ape Cave) are only a 20-25 minute drive away. Dry camping with no potable water fillup spots available, so fill your tanks before coming in. Sites are spaced well, and the grounds were quite clean. The only negative I saw is the blackwater tank flush hoses at the dump station were lacking fittings. There are a couple small stores in Cougar should you have forgotten something, they also rent kayaks there.

Overall Rating
When we stayed here in Sept. '18 this park was very clean and quiet with only about a dozen people camping here. There are a lot of trees so I had to back out of the pull through that we were in.

Just a single night. Sites were pull through, which is nice, relatively quiet. The park was maybe 2/3 full, but had no trouble getting a space. Cell service is nearly non existent. Way down on the south side of the lake, you'll find a nice playground for the kids AND ATT signal. Enough for a little data and a phone call. The lake... more

Way down on the south side of the lake, you'll find a nice playground for the kids AND ATT signal. Enough for a little data and a phone call. The lake was WAY low last year, but I was just hanging out so I didn't care. I do plan to go back again this year.
