So there is no actual location on this site for the Somerset Airfield, but there are roughly 6+ sites there that were big enough to house my 45’ conversion. First, hats off to the National Forest for maintaining the roads. A few areas had minor small pot holes and washboards. There are several sites to choose from but wouldn’t take anything larger than 30’. Some areas the tree branches hang low over the road. The flies/bugs were bad. My wife and I camp off Forest Road 71. We stopped in one site just as it was getting dark in the rain. We set up camp quickly to sleep in a dry tent. When we woke up we were shocked at the mess around the site. The site was trashed with beer cans, paper, broken glass, We went into the woods off the site to dug a hole to use morning duties. The woods just off the site was a mess. Toilet wipes on the surface of the ground everyplace, We saw a camp toilet left behind, full of everything. The bag was attached and left behind. The fire pit has the remains of a tent that someone burned. We were sickened, we quickly packed up and moved on. We found a second site off Stratton Arlington equally as trashed, We moved onto a third site and found one that was acceptable. It is so unfortunate that the free Forest rd sties get so abused. Not sure if we will be back.

my boyfriend and i stayed here for a night and we had an amazing time! we drove down the dirt road for about half an hour before finding a spot, but it was well worth it. it was so quiet and peaceful, and there wasn't anyone else camping near us. we camped in my minivan, and i will admit my van almost didn't make it up the little hill to get into the campsite, so if you have a super low car this place may not be the best for you, tho i'm sure if you searched hard enough you would be able to find a spot you could get to.
also, just a heads up that there really isn't much cell service near the campsites, so if you're relying on your phone for directions, screen shot the map/print out a map before you get there.

Our site was on the side road off Stratton Arlington Road leading to Bourn Pond. Lots to do and see especially if you canoe or kayak.
We had Verizon 4g if we walked a couple hundred feet down the road

There was a rock fire pit located at the site as well. The camp was mostly level and clean, but right next to the road. This proved to be a little noisy from a number of dirt bikes and as people continued to search for campsites until 9pm or so.
The dispersed sites are located a couple miles past Somerset Airfield camping area (which is also free), and that site contains two sets of bathrooms and 15 campsites if you are unable to find a more secluded location along the road.
The nearby town of Wilmington on VT100 has a Shaws grocery store for general supplies and also contains a neat little liquor store (Ratu's) with local spirits and craft beers.

There are a number of tent and small Rv spaces to find while driving around the Forest Roads 71 and 83. I believe there are several other roads for dispersed camping as well and all spots are first come first serve. Some are large enough to get up to a 30ft Rv into but most are small tent sites. There is a large paved parking lot at Kelley Stand that can take the larger 40ft rigs. Our site was a large size and we enjoyed it until a black bear showed up so be extra diligent if you spill anything and put the coolers away too (even if they are bear certified like ours)! A cell booster would have definitely given us access to more areas of this forest.
