Everything provided in Smokey & Tater's review is bang on! Thanks.
I will add it is extremely dry and dusty. The FS just upgraded to Stage 2 fire restrictions and maybe that kept people away. One group of picnickers came in Sunday for a few hours, otherwise complete isolation and relaxation.
Highly recommend for anyone that truly wants a no-signal getaway.
Patrick & Chet would stay here again

This area is back country but still accessible by two wheel drive if your careful. There are two good ways to approach this area, that I know of. Head south on old highway 52 as it departs highway 60 just west of Magdalena or take south 107 out of Magdalena and head west on FR 330 or 52 headed towards grassy lookout and mount withington. This route is open but a four wheel drive is recommended as the road is burned out and eroded.
It’s been around forever and is a great place to experience peaceful and isolated solitude while camping. There is a nice trail at the end of the camping area also. Several big elk reside in this area so expect to have a sighting.
The light pollution is non existent so night time star gazing is cosmic.
There are several forest roads to explore in this region so if you truly want a backwood experience this is the place.
Camper would stay here again
