The sites have 50/30/15 amp service and water; NOT sewer. There is a dump station at the entrance to the campground. The only downside is the mosquitos. It seems to be hit or miss, but they were bad this time.
We love this park and will definitely be back!

Convenient location for visiting New Orleans as well as further south to John Lafitte nature preserve - about 20-25 minutes to each. There is a great seafood market that you could bike or walk to that has fresh seafood daily. Think farmer’s market but seafood instead of produce. We had lunch at Segnette Landing restaurant which is right behind the seafood market. Very good, nice location by the small harbor and nice outside deck. There are also swamp tour boats that depart from this location.
Park could use some upgrades in terms of the wooden decks that some of the sites have, picnic tables, etc. sites are large enough and we felt sufficiently spaced compared to some we’ve been to. A few trees scattered around, so you may have some shade depending on your site. We used laundry facilities and they were fine. It did not rain while we were here but you could tell when heavy rains. There are many low spots that will pool water. They say they have free Wi-Fi but we could not get it to work or even be recognized by her devices.

The park was easy to find. It is located off of the Westbank Expressway . Had we not been here before, and followed the directions that our Garmin GPS suggested, we would have been hopelessly lost. There is pavement all the way including the park interior roads. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic.
Our site, 93, was a back in that was just long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp and water only) were to the left side. Distancing is a little close for a rural park. No sites have a vegetation privacy barrier. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was well maintained.
The park included wifi was impossible to log into. The server probably needed a reboot but we didn’t bother to let staff know as our Verizon hot spot worked very well. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them dated but clean. The laundromat was clean as well.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. Piggly Wiggly is about 10 minutes away. There is also a wonderful seafood market where you can find crabs, crayfish (in season) shrimp, and a large assortment of fresh fish not too far from the park. We found this park to be good base to use for vising the local attractions. Bourbon Street is about 20 minutes away.
We paid $25.00 per night for week nights and $33.00 weekends and we feel we received good value. We will be back if in the area again.

Clean park. We felt safe. Staff friendly and helpful. They do have a senior rate. A lot of fallen trees around the edges of the campground. Not a lot to do in the park itself. It was in good proximity to exploring the New Orleans area.

We lucked out with our site (92), it was easy to get to, private, and had a asphalt patio. Many sites have these broken wood patios that I wouldn't trust at all. Some sites were in such bad shape that they seemed permanently closed. Also, lots of downed trees....but there's been no storm recently. They've been down for quite a while. Bathrooms were just ok. Lots of armadillos at night, that was pretty cool.
Park closes after 9pm and you have to enter through a nearly impossible to find side entrance that is very dark, then get out of your car to enter a four digit code into a padlock (code changes weekly, yay), drive through, then get back out of your car to manually lock it again. Not ideal. If you go in knowing what to expect, it's doable.
Starlink worked great assuming your site is light on trees. 50/50

Probably the worst State Park we have visited in any State. The positive, very close to downtown New Orleans. The negative, our site was dirty and full of cigarette butts. The park appears to be in need of an investment from the State. There is only 1 dump station lane, the rinse hose leaks from above, so you get a shower if you use it.

I fed it and it ate like it never had food before gave it 3 cups, very friendly but was a boy and not fixed. Think I’ll let lady’s at the front desk know. I’m going to worry about this sweet kitty. This campground was inexpensive and we wanted to check out French Quarter and it only took us like 20 minutes to get downtown, wish we had another day to do airboat ride. Not a sound at night, super quiet. There’s also bunny rabbits and armadillo since this is a nature preserve.

Ideally, it would land in the in box of the people in charge of the park.
The five-star qualities of this park remain: it's amazing to think you can get a well-spaced spot in the woods outside New Orleans that is only about 30 minutes from any tourist or worthy dining destination you can name for state park prices. If you want to spend a ton and be in the midst of everything, go to French Quarter RV, but having stayed in both places there is no need, IMHO.
The sad part is that maintenance of this facility is relatively poor. There is badly broken pavement by the dump station that you must go over every time you go in and out of the campground. As far as i can tell this has been without maintenance for five years. The means of getting into the campground after 9 pm is through a side exit that couldn't be worse marked unless they took away the non-reflective sign you are supposed to see in the dark. Why do they need to change the gate campground code weekly? It just increases the risk someone will not get it and be stranded outside after 9 pm. There was no soap in the bathrooms for five days. The hose at the dump station had a bad leak, so everything got wet. The maintenance man I stopped said, we know, and just shrugged his shoulders.
It's a fantastic place to stay when visiting New Orleans. Don't let any of these criticisms steer you away from that truth. However, I wish that whichever agency has the ability to update the facility and improve maintenance would do so. You have a gem here; please maintain it!

In our hundreds of days on the road, staying in all types of RV parks and campgrounds, this has never happened and it shook us up. We returned from a day in the city to find our RV well over 90 degrees and food in our fridge spoiled. Our pets were just getting to the point of distress when we found the campground electrician 3 sites down, repairing the issue. Turns out 3 sites are combined on one circuit breaker that only holds 100 amps. So when a Class C came in and hooked up with 50 amps and their dual AC units, plus the guy next to us running a water purifier, satellite dish, toys, etc, it was too much and the breaker burned out. The power was apparently out for a few hours during the heat of the afternoon.
The office staff was apologetic but would not refund all our money when we said we were too concerned to continue site seeing and leaving the RV with our pets, unmonitored. (Only after complaining a second time were we given an address and a form, so now we have to write a letter to appeal for a refund.)
As others said, lots of hurricane damage but saw workers clearing it up. Trails are pretty much unhikeable so we walked the roads instead. Lots of bugs!!! Found them in the cats water dish, in our bed and on the counters one morning and spent hours cleaning. Laundry area was decent thank goodness. Cell service was quite low.
Really pay attention to the instructions on how to get into the park after hours, if you plan to come back after 8. It’s tricky and would be extremely hard in the dark.
TOURISTY INFO: Still the best RV place for seeing New Orleans without staying in an expensive, loud, dirty and crime ridden city location. Even being a weekend, we had no issues with congestion or parking a huge truck downtown, which was a major concern of ours. We decided to head to the downtown at 8am and parked on the residential streets of the Garden District, which was much easier than anticipated. Locals confirmed it was free parking on side streets and we were right next to Lafayette Cemetery for a walking tour.
Used a $3 daily zippy pass to ride the street car to/from the French Quarter, which was a nice and unique experience in itself. Gotta say, walking Bourbon Street was a first and very last experience for us. Never again! Soooo dirty, extremely loud and just couldn’t handle all the little kids drumming on buckets on every corner, being peddled by their parents for money. We cut our trip to NOLA short as a result of all the above and will be hard pressed to return. But, you have to do it at least once - that’s our motto.
