We did over shoot the dirt road turn off and had to go a couple of miles for gps to turn us around. It did take us down two dirt roads between corn fields. These were flat and well maintained. You end up next to freeway and if noise bothers you it will be a problem. I slept all night and it did not bother me at all.

We stopped here overnight enroute to Wyoming and again on the way back. Perfect spot with lots of maneuver room (we’re 55’ nose to toes) and completely level, large gravel area. Go straight off the road into the large graveled area. DO NOT take a left to cross a small bridge if you’re not a tent camper. No room to turn around and it’s a 3-ton weight limit bridge!
Lots of in & out cars visiting the river side area across the little bridge on a weekend evening. Might be a local party spot.
Good T-Mobile coverage and other than a little I-80 road noise it’s a perfect quick overnight spot.

Stayed here July 22, 2024. I ended up just parking in the small lot next to the river right after you cross the bridge to the right. Figured it’d be better for bugs to be next to flowing water and not near the lake part of the area. Didn’t see a single mosquito, but they’ve never seemed to like me anyways. Figured it’d be better for bugs to be next to flowing water and not near the lake part of the area. Didn’t see a single mosquito, but they’ve never seemed to like me anyways. I went a little over a mile down the dirt road once crossing the bridge and saw a shady lot at the end of the mile. Road got a little bumpy and muddy so I decided to turn back and just stay at the lot by the river. Only one car with me. Fairly quiet night with the odd semi coming past every now and then. Got good service on t-mobile.

Like others say, god for a quick stop off from i80. Will be at campsite within 2 minutes. Some road noise but honestly wasn’t bad considering how close to the Highway you are. There is a decent amount of truck traffic as you are right by an on ramp to I-80 but it’s negligible. Lots of people there during the day into the evening but it gets better through the night. Good place to overnight if you are just pushing through. Lots of mosquitoes due to it being by the water so make sure to bring bug spray. But there were hundreds of fireflies as well which was very cool. Just be aware that the weather in summer can change on a dime and get really bad really quick.

We were able to push our slides out with no fear of getting clipped from trucks, and had no one else near us.
We did see the sign saying warning, traps for coyotes, but we kept our dog on leash and never saw any traps. This area did smell awful, but the entire state did from fertilizing their fields in the fall. We went straight on the exit, we did not cross the one lane bridge.

“Beautiful Area But We Couldn’t Find A Place To Pitch Our Tent”
noted 7/22/2023
This would be a great place to stay for free if you have a camper, but we have a tent and travel with our two children. There was no reasonable, safe place to set up our tent. Beautiful scenery though
