“Beautiful area with very basic primitive camping”
We arrived on a Tuesday and left on Thursday. The area in the Ouachita National Forest is stunning. Blaylock Creek runs along the county road leading to campground. It’s a perfect “Forest stream.” Clear with lots of small waterfalls. The campground is right along the creek and in March the sound of it lled us to sleep at night. There are 5 or 6 large sites with wooden sleeping shelters for each. We camped in a converted cargo but the 2 other sets of campers used the shelters to set small (2-4 person) tents inside. Be advised there is no electricity, water, or cell service. The only amenities other than the shelters were one set of trash containers and one vault toilet. There are no stores nearby so you will need to bring in your own water and this is black bear country so you must keep your site clean of food and trash.
Also the county road into the area is curvy with a sheer drop on one side along a lot of it so probably not suitable for large rigs- personally we wouldn’t bring anything larger than a teardrop or pop up. On the upside, plenty of hiking trails and lots of people out and about in OHVs. It’s a very peaceful area. It was spring break and there was no significant noise at all.
Purl would stay here again
